Can someone shed some light on this idea that Newton is dumb?

Recommended Posts

You love burying yourself in you own examples

In the boy who cried wolf the people stopped listening and the boy was killed. You could learn a lot from your own metaphor.

Not buried in the least. Continue to lie to people (for example, playing the race card constantly when it just isn't so) and eventually no one can tell when it actually happens. By then, they likely dont care as well. Do you blame them? Are you in agreement that every negative comment ever said about a black athlete is racially motivated, as the stats from this site would bear?

Sure

Interesting side note, Jamarcus Russell was an SEC Academic Honor Roll athlete

Jason Campbell is a very smart person

That is just off the bat. I also know people questioned whether Josh Freeman, who cam from a modified pro offense could "learn and NFL offense" or "read defenses"

BTW Scot notice the questioning of their intelligence. Not just "he needs to look off the safety and take snaps under center.

I haven't been here long so the only comments I've seen directed towards black athletes that have racism brought up are the comments about Cam. I've seen people make of fun Lafell tweets "he dat deal" a million times and nobody's brought up racism or played the race card. From my observation, Cam is the only one I've seen receive some racially motivated comments.

But by this misguided logic you are saying that since people play the race card so much we should just ignore it and stop listening to it.

That way when it actually exists we can blame black people (the lying boy in this metaphor) for playing the race card too much and therefore that is why we missed it

And I have been only commenting on the QB position. Not all black athletes in general.

Bleacher report is just a site where random fans and/or people can sign up and make articles without any creditinals or expirence, and write almost whatever they want regardless of accuracy.

Not a very reputable site in my opinion.

Wrong again. I know a ton of white people who think this is a cool thing to do as well. The race card is GROSSLY overused....by everyone. In my opinion, cowardly playing the "race" card on every criticism (lets focus on Cam Newton....what criticism HASNT received the race card?) is a way of lying. And yes...if someone lies to me many times, and I dont believe them the one time they tell the truth, the fault is theirs. I dont know anyone who feels differently. Should a professor believe that a student's grandma actually passed away this time when she already passed away that semester? Are you in the habit of continuing to believe the words of people you know are liars? On the same note, do you normally believe the media in situations where you have witnessed them be less than truthful many times? If you are honest, you will say no. Why should you?

You're tired of the race card. We get it. Sometimes it is used when it shouldn't be, but this isn't one of those times. Cam has faced a lot of criticism due to problems he's brought on himself, being a rookie, being successful, and being black. Just because you've heard "the race card" played more than enough times for your liking doesn't mean poo.

He has written 22 articles.

Gerald Ball (Cam Newton article) is so well known he doesnt even have a bio. His 108 articles speak for themselves.

This is really sad.

If you had to put a % on how much the bolded statement has to do with the overall criticisms on him, where would you put it?

And how do you know people who say racial stereotypes play into how a QB is perceived is lying exactly??

Let me try it this way. Why did people question the intelligence of a guy who was an Academic SEC honor roll athlete??

Why did people constantly question the intelligence of Steve McNair?

Or Daunte Culpepper??

Or why would josh Freeman not have the ability to read NFL defenses??

Why has 10 of 11 first round black QBs have their intelligence questioned in some way??

Premature much? Why didn't you do any bit of research on these articles? AGAIN, any crack pot can say racist things. Explain to me how a CUSTOMER SERVICE REP who moonlights as a stand up comic is the "posterizing" anyone?

Did you get the above info from an article posted by a housewife?
