J.J. Abrams' Alcatraz

When San Francisco Police Department DET. REBECCA MADSEN (Sarah Jones, “Sons of Anarchy”) is assigned to a grisly homicide case, a fingerprint leads her to a shocking suspect: JACK SYLVANE (guest star Jeffrey Pierce, “The Nine”), a former Alcatraz inmate who died decades ago. Given her family history – both her grandfather and surrogate uncle, RAY ARCHER (Robert Forster, “Jackie Brown”), were guards at the prison – Madsen’s interest is immediately piqued, and once the enigmatic, knows-everything-but-tells-nothing government agent EMERSON HAUSER (Sam Neill, “Jurassic Park”) tries to impede her investigation, she’s doggedly committed. Madsen turns to Alcatraz expert and comic book enthusiast, DR. DIEGO “DOC” SOTO (Jorge Garcia, “Lost”), to piece together the inexplicable sequence of events. The twosome discovers that Sylvane is not only alive, but he’s loose on the streets of San Francisco, leaving bodies in his wake. And strangely, he hasn’t aged a day since he was in Alcatraz, when the prison was ruled by the iron-fisted WARDEN EDWIN JAMES (Jonny Coyne, “Undercovers”) and the merciless ASSOCIATE WARDEN E.B. TILLER (Jason Butler Harner, “The Changeling”).

First Look at J.J. Abrams' Alcatraz (more)...

I think this looks bad ass... it's going to come out midseason this fall and will air after House on Monday nights. There's a pretty good trailer on the linked page above, but you can also go straight to the trailer here.

I watched it and have never really watched any kind of drama series like Lost, etc..... I am going to try to stick with it as the show was interesting and I have always been intrigued by Alcatraz since I was a kid for some reason. Wasn't a big fan of the main actress or the acting in general but maybe she/it will grow on me. Jut hope the show doesn't get to "hokey".

    • This won't be a trap game for them. I worry more for the next time we face Atlanta. That's a death trap game if we aren't careful.
    • Luckily, we've got more games ahead to watch and see what happens. Maybe he keeps growing his game, maybe we see that he's topped out when we hit stiffer competition. Or maybe he flames out against a team he should well be able to beat like the Jets this weekend. I really can't tell where all of this will end. I can say, though, there's no reason to hit the kid at the moment. Let him roll for as long as he can.  Heck, Sam Darnold is setting the league on fire right now, along with Baker Mayfield and Daniel Jones. Examples of guys mired in bad coaching on bad teams (sometimes our own) that hit their stride just as a team did. Maybe we're about to get lucky.  I do know one thing. The biggest change in a winning Bryce and a losing Bryce is that when he plays fearlessly, he is a hell of a competitor. When he gets scared, and he has so many times, it all just falls apart for him and no team can save him. Bravery makes the difference and it comes from believing in not just himself, but his line, his receivers, his running back and the play calling. Just like most young QBs. And quite a few of the old ones. Rodgers couldn't make it in the chaos of the Jets situation. He can in Pittsburgh, so it seems.
    • That’s what I thought too. Maybe I interpreted it wrong. I was considering maybe taking a last minute trip but I think I’ll pass
