Doing some research: Training camp

Recommended Posts

it moves around. next day it will be some other field. really know way to know ahead of time which field it will be on (unless they are doing it at the stadium).

It was my first time going. I took my teenage son who never seems excited about anything. He has already asked me several times this year if we can go back if they have football. That one thing was worth it to me. We are hoping for the opportunity!

cool stuff.

just make sure you go to the beacon while you're there, that is if you get to go.

the experience is not complete until you "call it".

I went last year and most of the stuff happened at the far end practice field. Why is that? It would be nice if most of the action occured on the two fields closer to the side with the big hill. Yes, I know the practices are not for the sole purpose of fan entertainment.

All of that is the coach's decision. We don't know what Rivera will do.

Again, I'm asking about things OUTSIDE of training camp activities.

http://gerhardscafe.net/

Gerhards cafe is probably my favorite restaurants in the upstate. The website doesnt off much about it, so Ill try and describe it. Its an Austrian place, so all around it has an austrian european kinda atmosphere. Theres several different sections there. When you first walk in, there is bar section that is pretty laid back. Behind the bar is the "jean section" part of the restaurant. There is a more formal dress up side thats blocked off from the rest of the place, that has the white linen tables, chandaliers and such. Then theres what I call a barn section, that has another bar and a place where they sell brick oven pizzas. Its a little more lively out there. Finally, theres an out door patio section thats nice.

They got a pretty good selection of beer, and the food is great. Anytime Im in spartanburg, I definately try to make time for this place.

Gerhard's definitely will be on the list of suggested restaurants. thanks.

And that's where you're wrong, and that's what I'm working on ... educating visitors.
meh...i lived in duncan for a couple years recently. i got to know the area pretty well. greenville>>spartanburg. no question. there were a couple restaurants i would go to and of course the mall and training camp, but we would go to greenville more. they just have better options.

Depends on what you're looking for, and living in Duncan, I might have been more inclined to go to Greenville, too.

Also doesn't mean there's nothing to do in Spartanburg. How long have you been gone from the area?

2 years, but i've been back a few times since then.

still...greenville isn't too far away. there's a (very) few things to do in spartanburg that don't involve eating, but when you've got half a day or two to spend, might find more things in greenville...esp. for kids. frankies fun park for starters.

Well, I'm not in the business of promoting Greenville, so that won't happen.

There's a water park right there in Duncan (I know it's not the same) and we have other family-friendly activities.

Not here to debate the Greenville-Spartanburg thing.

oh...marketing thing.

maybe you should try to promote both areas (unless its just spartanburg you are allowed to promote in which case...carry on).

Working in conjunction with Spartanburg CVB ... we will have a Spartanburg focus. All of Spartanburg County ... that includes BMW's Performance Center and Zentrum, for example.
