Richard Marshall = Worst Starting CB in 2010 season?

Sorry didn't see this posted. Getting rid of this guy will seriously help out D.. yikes.

The worst

Richard Marshall(notes), Carolina Panthers: 71.3%, 72 burns on 101 targets, 765 yards, 5 TD, 7 passes defensed

Marshall's been doing the contract dance with the Panthers for a few years now, but his numbers just don't justify the inflated opinion. Carolina was horrid last year, but its front seven was surprisingly good, leaving most of the blame for these stats on the man himself.

I agree Richard Marshall was pretty average most of last season, but towards the end of the season when Gamble was out, Marshall became a little more solid. Can the Panthers afford to hold on to a corner that takes time to warm up? I doubt it but under the new coaching with Ron Meeks focused on the db's then I can't say if Marhshall would be a bust.

Anyway's, Im sure Mr Meeks will be vocal on who he wants in the secondary.

I was mildly surprised to see that Gamble wasn't right behind him.

IMO Gamble is much better than most fans give him credit for. That said, having someone performing as poorly as Marshall last year on the other side probably kept him out of the spotlight :)

Marshall is not close to the worst starting cb in the league. I hate these kind of stats, too many variables are involved. He did play bad, so did most of everyone else too.

Marshall can not justify the contract he wants with these statistics. That much is certain.

    • yeah, Panther PR has done the Tepper is taking a backseat PR tour before.   It wasn't true at all the first time we saw them attempt that.   All the stuff you are referencing is stuff produced and put out by the Panthers.  I'm not acting like owners aren't in the war room.   I'm just saying Tepper is a proven commodity.  He is what he is.  And his tenure with BOTH his professional sports teams tell the exact same story about him.   He is not patient.  He didn't show patience last year.  He moved on from an absurd investment 2 games into the season.....and a frankly unimaginable turnaround by Bryce that was only allowed by injury reset some things.  I'm sure a billion times Raiders or Dallas or whatever fans convinced themselves their owners turned a new leaf too.  I'm not buying that.  There just isn't anything supporting Tepper isn't Tepper IMO.
    • Well last year the first team offense struggled against the Bills 3rd string defense. First string offense needed to convert a 4th down to score a TD.  If the starters play against backups and do what they are supposed to do, score easily, I’d say the reps are worth it. Would make me feel better. Unlike last preseason.
    • This right here. You also don’t want your 2 nd string oline going against their starting Dline and risk injury to whoever is taking snaps
