WTF is wrong with Hurney?

may as well

wholesale change, coach goes, GM goes too. I am tired of them pawning off the proverbial scape goat on us every year. this thing is starting to stink from the top down IMO.

the FO did a great job last year and has handcuffed themselves this year with the tagging of Pep.

interesting.

i tend to agree with that. penny's arm scares me but he is a tough minded individual who got dealt a crappy hand in NY and did the best with what he has. well respected by everyone he has played with from what i know.

He's got what I call the Holy Trinity of QBs...and not many have that. Head, heart and stones. I think he's gotten a bit of a bum rap for his arm. He has had two shoulder surgeries and that first year back was likely recovering a bit. And throwing in the Meadowlands...not too many QBs do that very well. I know Eli struggles with it. Cutler would be a better fit for the NYJ because all he has shown me so far is a rocket arm.

Honestly, how can you fault Hurney for tagging Peppers? From what I understand, he's been trying like hell to re-sign Peppers for at least a year now. Other than that, what's he supposed to do? He would have to be a complete idiot to just let Peppers walk away with no compensation.

says you.

If he can't sign him in a year the guy obviously wants out. Why handcuff your entire off season acquisition period leading up to the draft with the hope and dream of getting something worthwhile for a 29 year old "silent-type" who desires to change schemes and position but is determined to limit the pool of suitors as well as demand top-tier money.

Hurney spent the last year trying to woo peppers and now he is going to spend the next 4 months trying to woo every other team Peppers hasn't already eliminated from contention.

Surely you are not one of these who thinks this pimping out of Pep is not going to hurt us this off season. Surely you do not think this is going to be quick and painless.

Our greed is gonna end up costing us an entire year of growth.

OK, what would you have done?

Yeah I never give a QB a W-L record, this isn't baseball and they aren't pitchers. I judge them on how much they did to contribute to the W-L record.

And I just heard from Micheal Smith on NFL Live that the Broncos were only going to give the Pats a second rounder for Cassel themselves via the Cutler trade (and Denver's second rounder is of course lower than KC's). Smith is pretty accurate when it comes to the Pats since he is still plugged in there (He used to be a beat reporter on the Pats).

Denver scoring defense ranks last 2 seasons were 28 and 30th. I think this might have a slight impact on his win/loss ratio.

Bad defense, diabetes, iffy receivers after Marshall, etc. Maybe you have a point, maybe you don't. My point is simply that he hasn't done anything yet to justify the attitude that Peppers for Cutler straight up is a great deal for us.

Haven't read the whole thread, but I can't say that i'm not intrigued about the possibility of Cutler to Carolina.

From the games i've watched him play, he is a heckuva QB with still some untapped potential. I don't see it happening, but he would def. be an ungrade over Jake. Dwayne Jarrett would probably benefit the most from him coming here.

So how much did he contribute, or rather how much did he do to stop the Broncos collapse at the end of the season, costing them a playoff spot?

    • It is all confusing and layered. SB is the cash you get very soon within weeks or in simple terms, its what you get to sign the paper work. Players and agents can agree on contract but what to "wait" to sign......teams don't like that cause you can "Carlos Boozer" yourself. In order to get that ink dry, while keeping the contract the same, portion it as a bonus to "sign" and get the funds with ________ .   * But Ive seen worded contracts that split the SB or a 20% to a later date. The beans counters can fill in the details about why certain dates are better and save the team money.. Theres tricks to the trade and accounting is full of them.    Ugh another big layer, is SB can be used to manipulate cap and players. Ill try to give a example that makes enough sense. Believe it or not having a owner like Tepper is a cheat code for this. He has cash in hand, where as Mark Davis had problem making pay roll and had to move the team to Vegas....... Tepper can give you 100,000,000 SB right now and the team can spread out the cap hit. Another owner doesn't have or want to give the player 100,000,000 in cash, but offered the same guaranteed contract in roster bonuses fully guaranteed over the next few years........ Which one do you want??? Everyone wants the money now, not before another inflation waves hits in 2 years. So it does 'pay" to have a owner like tepper that's able to have real cash on hand, while it also works GREAT for cap help. Heres a good video, if you can stand coked up pat and mask look-a-like AJ
    • I don't know. CMC is like others and may have lip serviced that line of " I had no plan or wanted to leave Carolina" I think he even said he bought a house too and wanted this to be home.   Here's what I heard- In a way Panthers org gave him a test and he didn't "fight" back. They approached CMC and told him they wanted to put him on IR since the "season" was over or out of playoff reach. CMC didn't fight it one lick and agreed. They secretly wanted him to kept playing or want to, but there was no kickback. I honestly don't know if its real or not, 5th hand information type deal doing on. Yes he had bruises and pains, but was able to play...... but went along with Panthers staff. Odd to be playing games with star players, but whatever....   Plus the staff doctors found out about his tendinitis and there was nothing to fix it. Even with him missing time, it was the best move to trade him before he got inflamed constantly.    Lastly, its mostly time a combo of stuff, Fitterererere did not sign him to be the highest paid RB. That was classic Marty "give me a" herniay doing. GMs have different values on roster spots and rumor was Fitterererer was one that didn't want to pay RBs. For all his faults, he's right about that......
