If an alien invasion were to happen

I wouldn't be surprised.

Given how our society is, it would be good for them to show up and let us know that if we didn't get our sh!t together, they will watch us destroy the planet.

Some folks have very disillusioned opinions of the human race as we are now.

I don't think we have anything to offer superior civilizations, IMHO.

Not even as slave labor.

lol, no you wouldn't.

You might think you would, but IF you survived, when starvation began, disease became untreatable, your way of life was severely altered or completely destroyed, and the death tolls started to mount, you'd cry for a way out and wish you had it as good as you do now.

And what makes you think this would humble everyone? There will always be brazen stupid people.

You're assuming it's a negative invasion. What if aliens wanted something that is useless to us? And if aliens started wiping us out, why would anyone WANT die a meaningless death at the hands of our invaders or to survive and live in a destroyed world, like you mentioned. I honestly think it's a lot easier to wipe out all living beings on the earth than we think (and has been portrayed in movies). Like I said, if aliens can get to this planet from however far away they are, they will be able to do whatever they want to us. If they want the planet rid of it's native population, it will be gone. If they want our abundance of poop, they will take it.

Yea we have it great right now, this is a hypothetical situation...but yes I would enjoy seeing humanity be humbled by encountering aliens, in any way or form.

I would be surprised because I like living in my own little bubble. I get taken back if I am somewhere and hear someone with an Australian accent so I am pretty sure an alien invasion would shock the Hell out of me and most likely force me into a comatose fetal position under my kitchen table.

just the other night as I was carrying about 4 half empty glasses of water back to the kitchen from the bedroom I said "I feel like the little kid in Signs..so I'm prepared if they come"

I have the same issue.. now I have a great excuse..

"look lady, this isn't because I'm lazy.. if aliens show up tomorrow, I'm prepared."

if an actual alien came down from the skies, I would be shocked due to the odds being minimal.

but I wouldn't say the possibility would shock me..

exactly.

The probability is extremely low due to the distance between the stars that would have to be traveled in order to reach us, but I am 99% confident that it remains a possibility in due time because of how large the universe is, and the likely-hood that out of large number of planets in our galaxy, Earth is probably not the only place that evolved life.

My previous gf told me to clean up all my glasses. I said you need to watch Signs. She didn't get it. I told her I couldn't love someone who didn't understand how to kill Aliens. We don't speak anymore.

    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
