Possibility of Replacements?

Since day 1 this has been about a lockout. The players are locked out of the facilities. This does not change because the owners have ratified the agreement. If the doors were unlocked, the players would show up tomorrow. The problem is, until the players agree to recertify and sign the paperwork, the owners will continue to lock them out of the facilities.

The owners can not hire replacement players for the simple fact that the "lockout" applies to all football players, not just the ones who were previously employed. The facilities are locked untill their is ratification by the NFLPA and a union is reformed. (Though rumors of allowing players to enter befor the union is reformed have been mentioned if the players "promise" to reform it)

I know, its fun to think about in fantasy land guys, but get real.

The real problem they are running into is that the players want specific things accomplished that can only be accomplished if they were acting as a union, which they currently are not. This is the entire hold-up with the CBA

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
