sorry but your dog is dangerous and needs to be put down. If she attacked and killed a dachsund, then what makes you think she won't do the same to a neighborhood/your own child?

I spent 45 min standing in the living room of their trailer this evening apologizing. There was heavy smoking going on...and an oxygen tank in the corner.

I can't find the relevance in this, unless you're playing the "trailer trash don't deserve no dog" card. Maybe the dachsund was on oxygen?

Sorry to hear LP. Sounds like you've done the right thing to the best of your ability. I hope all works out well for you and your dog. I especially hope the other family is able to move on without holding it against you or your dog.

I live in city limits and a neighborhood, so I put up a 6ft privacy fence around the back yard. That gives my dogs their own personal territory and a bit of freedom without putting them or others in danger. I know it's costly, but it may be a good option for you in the future so Maggie can still get off leash to some degree.

It's a shame they had to put the dachsund down, but I agree that dachsunds tend to be very aggressive. Ours was...

Also sounds like that cop was just being a dick... something a lot of cops have no trouble with.

Dogs fight, it happens... best thing you can do is keep yours fenced/inside.
