I can relate to your giddiness.

If anyone on here is not somewhat happy and/or excited about this year, they shouldn't be a Panther fan.

Well said. I don't understand all of the negativity. For years, all we've talked about is being agressive in FA, getting rid of fox, getting a good QB. All of these things are happening and it still doesn't please everyone. I for one, am with you. totally pumped. Let the SWAG fly because we're sporting plenty of it. GOOOOOOOO Panthers!

Trying to think about it without emotion. In one way if you look at each move we have the same 2-14 team as last year and all we really did was get rookie draft picks, sign 2 tight ends and a mediocre fat dt, then replaced one aging kicker with another albeit he has a cooler name. Some people will stop reading and blast me now

Now to look at it from another point of view, what we did as a hole was lock up the core for a long time. Added two pro bowl targets that can consistently make plays which is huge for mediocre or young qbs. If the oline (Otah) is healthe the run game and TE will help the young qbs and open up opportunities for the all pro receiver and the young wrs.

On the defensive side, the dt acquisition will help or LB be linebackers and take a bit of pressure off of our dbs which is an obvious weakness.

All that said, I do not think the team on the field this year will be overly impressive but I think when te year is over there will be a lot of people taking notice and many fewer teams looking forward to playing us.

Will play for the gold in feb 2014

We don't know if we actually have a good qb yet, but I am pretty excited about the team.

I feel you. And huddle will always blast you, regardless. I really think the coaching change is the biggest. That really turned me off last year. There was no excitement to be felt in anything. The whole season just felt lame. We need our Oline to come back. If it does I'm sure our offense will be atleast average. Our defense will have to carry us early. Thanks for the serious reply.

To me, last year was just painful. It seemed like everyone from the coaches to the players to Mr. Richardson were just mailing it in. Yet I remember trying to look at it objectively, and recognizing just how much talent we had on that 2010 team - Deangelo, Smitty, CJ, Greg Hardy, Gross, Kalil, Stewart, Goodson - I'm sure there are others I'm missing, but you get the point. I was just baffled by the performance we turned in, even though I admit our QB play had to be a huge part of it, as was poor coaching, and a terrible run of bad luck on the injury front.

If nothing else, I feel like a guy who's weathered a bad storm at sea on a john boat and survived to see the morning rise in clear skies. I'm still uncertain what the new season will bring, but I'm sure as heck more optimistic than I have been in a long, long time. I was at that Cardinals playoff game three years ago. It was like being gut punched. This is the first time I feel like I've been able to draw a clean, full breath since then. I'm excited to see what it looks like on the field. And I must confess, I have a sneaking feeling we're going to be a lot better than anyone gives us credit for!
