yes, because even with our "core group of talent" we are horrible.

A lot of the defensive core group is on IR. Please think when possting, the offense is solid and will improve going into next season. We're down our Pro-Bowl MLB, our starting WLB, as well as our starting NT. Surprisingly enough what has been our issue (our main issue)...stopping the run.

In the NFL if you can't stop the run you can't win, unless you're the Colts and Mannning is your QB allowing your defense to play with two score leads most games.

I'm hoping we invest whether it's in the draft or free agency to sure up our front sevens.

so even worse- our money is tied up in guys who can't even get on the field. there is no way to spin this as a positive- when you are paying massive amounts of money to your "core group" and you are still terrible your franchise is in trouble. It doesn't matter if they are hurt or they just suck, the end result is the same and there is no consolation prize for injury plagued teams.

Tying up your core group is a positve thing. Having a bunch of defensive leaders on IR is definitely not. They are not the same thing at all. Injuries in football are a part of the game and unavoidable.

Injured players and sucky players are not the same at all. Injured players can recover and contribute next year. Most sucky players stay sucky.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
