Winners and losers from tonight

Yes, teams don't gameplan, but the Giants sent a lot of blitzes towards Newton early on. Not necessarily vanilla.

The one sack he took where he dodged one DL (or LB) only to be smacked by a second one, I was surprised he didn't get wiped out and lose the ball. One of the advantages of having a big guy at QB, I think.

Winners: Cam, Jimmy, Olsen, Edwards, LaFell, Pilares, Fua, Ziemba, Pugh, McClain.

Losers: Our run game (I only say that because we really weren't dominating like we should have been), Naane, Giants Kicker Tynes.

Huh? I thought we pretty well had our way with them running the ball. We didn't run that much, probably because we're looking at our QBs.

Jimmy would catch hell if he was 8-8 for 213 yards tonight.

I doubt that. There might be one or two people around here who are just hard headed enough to hate a player no matter what, but there is no way in hell JC would get booed at the stadium if he played like that.

Gross= Loser . Gives up 2 sacks in one quarter. Jason Pierre Paul is a beast, but Gross is supposed to be a pro bowl LT

Even as big of Panthers fan as I am, I've always thought Jordan Gross was severely overrated. He got credit for being durable more often than being good. Not that he's a BAD LT, but I'd give him like an 85 in Madden over the 95 he got last year.

Winners: Pilares (looked fast on the TD), Armanti Edwards, Jordan Senn (made some great tackles) and the defense in general was good. I'm not sure if it was more Giants ineptitude or good Panthers D, but they were terrible on 3rd down. So were the Panthers, but at least they won!

Thomas Williams was the biggest winner from tonight. He was everywhere! Sean Considine was also all over the place.

Cam played well for his first NFL game ever- Jimmy improved.

McClain played great as did Kendrick Burney.

You might be right about the passing heavily, but our running game was to hit and miss. Stewart had the most consistency I think out of the group.

Goodson was a big disappointment. I sure hope he gets the fumbling under control in the preseason. I would imagine that he will se a lot of playing time. I don't see how you can play him in the regular season in any role other than returns until he proves he can be trusted. This was a major problem last year and two fumbles in limited action is scary. I know a lot of people here were ready to let DW go b/c they were so confident in Stew and Goodson. Not so much.

Winners- Olsen - AE - Pilares, McClain and

Panthers coaching staff - they have done a great job with a bunch of young guys in a short amount of time on both sides of the ball

Losers - Goodson - he still is fumbling the ball away , Tyne - Id guess he will be looking for employment in a couple of weeks

Well, Stewart had 2 attempts for 12 yards with a long of 8, so yeah...

It's too small a sample size to draw any hard conclusions, but from what I saw, our run blocking was pretty good and our backs showed the speed and vision to exploit opportunities when they were there.

For what it's worth, our "Big Three" of Williams, Stewart and Goodson combined for 65 yards on 14 carries with a long of 20. Average - well over 4.5 ypc.
