Jon Gruden thinks Terrelle Pryor may be better than Newton

Why am I not surprised PFT would try to Push Pryor ahead of the QB they didn't like. Funny but everyone seems to be comparing other QBs to Cam.Would u put ur kid up against a second rate student or the best in the class?

PFT doesnt like Terrelle Pryor either.

Guys guys guys it has to be true. People told me yesterday that they get paid for their opinion so it has to be right and we shouldn't even have our own and just listen to them.

We must cut Cam Newton and draft Pryor.

that would be beyond stupid and would just put undo pressure on Pryor because they gave up on Cam so quickly. in my book they have to give Newton more time than Clausen.

I live in Columbus and I've watched Pryor play every Saturday for three years now. I know people who know him from the field and people who know him off the field. He's bad news. He is nowhere near the Quarterback that Cam Newton is, and will never have the ability to throw the ball anywhere near as strong as Cam. While they might both be world class athletes at the position, only one is a QB and he went #1 overall in the draft.

Look at the Wisconsin game from last year with tOSU. You'll see Pryor pushing the ball and throwing like a female almost does because they pressured him. He doesn't stretch the field well, is a horrible teammate and generally a really stupid QB version of Maurice Clarett. I'm telling you the guy is a mess and has NO FUTURE as a QB in the NFL. Remember the guy from Columbus said it.

First off, i dont think he's bad news off the field. i mean, it's not like Pryor's been arrested or was driving drunk. he just sold things he couldnt sell and may have gotten gifts. his issue is NOT his passing arm. Pryor has a strong arm, the issue is his decisions. he doesnt make good reads and either runs too soon or throws a bad pass.

he stretches the field, but like i said, he makes bad decisions ESPECIALLY when pressured. i think he has a future as an NFL QB, but it will take time, if he's drafted in the supplemental draft he will make his 1st start in 3 years.

Gruden being a QB Guru is just one of those things that's been said often enough in the media that people believe it.

His "QB Camp" program is interesting and fun to watch, but his resume' doesn't justify his being called a QB guru.

kind of like when they say John Fox is a good coach?

Pryor is alot better than most of this board gives credit. His arm would be stronger than anyone on ur roster not named cam and stronger than jake's. Arm strength is not his issue and he is not a run first qb. People assumed the same tbing with cam that he looks to run before passing which is not the case. The kid has his demons but, the reward out ways the risk. If im the bills raiders seahawks browns or cowboys i'd take a flyer on this kid.

Pryor can't even throw the F'n ball. He is picked to be a 5 or 6 round pick in the supp. draft!!!! He sucks. You talk about J Russell 2.0. Here you go without the throwing ability.

disagre. Russell couldnt run at all and was close to 300 pounds at one point. Pryor is thinner and he has a good arm like Russell, the problem is he has the on field decisions as Russell, BUT that can be fixed.

    • Yards a game works better over a longer period of time as well. Averages always work out over the long run. The smaller the sample size the easier it is to skew. Also opponents matter more when the size is small. Player 1 lights up 2 bad defenses in 4 starts vs Player 2 playing 10 games vs multiple defenses. It hard to make it apples to apples how it currently sits. Remember during Bryce’s little run last year how annoyed you were when people were pulling Bryce’s starts from week 9 on vs the whole season.
    • Someone else claimed I said EVERY.  Literally in my post breaking it down it gave Bryce TDs per game.   Shough however has the majority in his favor if just looking at starts. whats subjective about comp %, yards, QB ratings and turnovers?  Now I guess the argument one might make off them could be subjective.  But all I’m saying is statistically as a starter he has been better this year overall.  I don’t think Shough is great.  I think he is impressive based on the situation.  2nd rounder stepping in on a bad team.   And he like so many other QBs…..serves as little red flag going off about what we are doing here offensively.
    • Player A - 2 starts.  200 yards in each start. He averages 200 yards a game.  Player B - 1 start.  Throws for 400 yards.  Comes in another random game and has 1 pass attempt on a Hail Mary to end the game that goes incomplete.   Now given the random game he appeared for a snap, he averages 200 yards a game. Thats why you isolate starts. If you are talking starter vs someone who began as a backup.  Simple made up numbers/situations to illustrate the point.
