UFC lands major TV deal with FOX

The UFC has a new television partner, and it's a huge one, as SportsBusinessDaily reports that they have signed a deal with Fox that will bring up to four UFC events a year to network television.

According to the report, Fox has agreed to a deal in the range of seven or eight years, with bidding for UFC content going as high as $90 million per year. While the UFC will obviously continue on pay-per-view, this new deal will bring the world's leading MMA organization to network television for the first time.

Additionally, SBD reports that most of the UFC's weekly programming, including live events and The Ultimate Fighter, will move to cable channel FX, with Fox-owned Fuel also getting some UFC content. The report says that the UFC had also been negotiating with Comcast/NBC to bring the organization to NBC and Versus, as well as turning G4 into a "UFC network" of sorts. However, those negotiations reportedly broke down.

Great deal for all parties involved. I expect this to go over better than CBS and Strikeforce.

First UFC on FOX will be Nov. 12, "looking at Anaheim." No main event set yet.

Dana: Six UFC Fight Nights on FX and four UFC cards on FOX per year.

RT @ufc: Dana says there may be championship fights on Fox, definitely big-caliber bouts, however: "No Speedo fights." #UFCONFOX #UFC

I think that was more on Fox's end than Conan's. They assed around like they didn't want him that bad. Not to mention the unofficial 'Fox Late Night Curse of Failure'.

That's what I figured..but if it had been up to me, I would have wanted to compete with CBS & NBC...but then again, they're probably set with Seinfield reruns for the next 50 years.

    • I’ll see what Dan’s picks do this year but if it’s another lackluster class, we’re cooked, probably the biggest reason this team has suck for so long is the guys we’ve had at GM  bust and failed trades left and right
    • The more you look ahead Look ahead to the future son You realize the shrimp is gone And there’s plenty little fish beyond That boy fluttered like Bubba in Vietnam So run, run, run Forest, run Bryce Young sucks, just look beyond -Napoleon
    • Honestly, 2020 and 2021 were the years we sat on our asses like idiots. First being 2020.  Love may have been the one we missed out on with a trade down or a trade up from our 2nd pick.  And Hurts was a totally viable 2nd rounder to take a flier on after going DB. Love in particular was one of those top guys pre-college season, but he had a lot of TOs his last year and some iffy decision making pegged him back by scouts. If we hired a staff with a decent plan and vision (instead of Rhule and whatever he wanted to do) willing to groom him behind a vet, that may have been the money bet.  2021, it was Fields.  We could've tried him on for size, even if it didn't work, it would have put us in position to draft a QB in 2024. It all sucks.  We chased.
