What I want to see from Cam

So with Cam's debut over, here are some things I would like to see from him on Friday. Cam has had some time to watch some tapes and practice, so I hope/expect to see just a slight improvement.

Accuracy: The throws Cam made in the opener were all around good for him being a rookie. However, I would like to see higher than a 50% completion rate. Any improvement in this area would be great. If that means taking fewer shots down field to get a big gain, I am for it.

Keep the drive alive: Cam didn't run at all last week, which I was fine with. But with him starting, I would like to see him escape pressure and extend plays. If Cam can get a first down without getting destroyed, I say let him do it.

Get a touchdown: Whether it be a throw, a run, or a hand-off to a RB, I want to see Cam put together a drive that ends in a TD. Although I won't go crazy if it doesn't happen, I think running with the 1's should give him a better shot at scoring a TD. But field goals work too.

No fumbles: Since Cam is a rookie I can understand if he makes mistakes. Interceptions will happen. But I think Cam has much greater control over fumbling the football. I want to see him play smart, and remember to protect the football. If he is scrambling, sensing pressure, or just taking the snap from center, I want to see basic fundamentals.

That's about it. Although I want great things to happen for Cam, I only expect the basics. Smart play, slight improvements, and solid mechanics.

What do you want to see?

    • But it might happen that way. Last year showed how badly people wanted him to succeed because it was pretty universally opined that he did enough and showed he deserved it. people could use those game winning drive stats again, and the big time throws and a couple of wins and he will be ‘in’. Definitely a lot of support out there for him.  Maybe he does something to prove to me* he should get it. That is about my best hope.   * I should have said the skeptics, instead of me.
    • It seems like they are using the opportunity to get a different perspective.  They took him out of the game because he was feared to be injured. I don’t think in that moment they had ulterior motives.  But it gave them time to consider one. They were probably like we are and when they thought Andy was up, decided they were excited about it.  I could take it further and say maybe they looked at the film and thought hey with a week of reps, what would this look like? Surely they wouldn’t, right?   (I am not claiming they did that last part just joking around).
    • I guess we're debating the level of Tepper's involvement... again.  I can only gauge based on evidence.  Since Morgan has been GM it seems to me like football guys have been making football decisions.
