Cam officially starting against pittsburgh

Again, Cam hasn't 'wowed' anybody throwing the ball either, the only reason he gets the nod is because he's Riveras' guy and he can run.

No the reason he gets the nod, is because the offense is built around CAM. Fox was never fond of Clausen and neither is Rivera, plain and simple. Chud's playbook would have to be limited to short passes and screen because Clausen lacks the deep ball.

First you say, you're waiting on Cam to show he can pass in the NFL, and now it's, your waiting to see him progress as a passer. Well, Cam has already completed passes in the NFL, in and out the pocket, and his coach says he's progressing everyday.

Why do you keep bring up Clausen in the first place? Clausen came from a pro style O, and had multiple problems with the Center QB exchange, in the regular season. Clausen threw no TD's to a WR in 10 games, and has thrown the same amount of pick 6's as he has TD's. So you see, Clausen problems were way beyond the O Line.

Cam hasn't showed me anything yet passing the ball that has wowed me. I say I wanna see progress as a passer because there is only up for him to go, get my drift? I bring up Clausen because he is still on this team and is the other option, so until he is off this team I will talk about him, you act as if he is non existent.

And how many TD's has Cam threw so far? What is his completion percentage to WR's so far? It's ugly man, you can't deny that. You can blame the WR's and O-line when it comes to Cam, but really its the exact same people out there except for Naane.

No the reason he gets the nod, is because the offense is built around CAM. Fox was never fond of Clausen and neither is Rivera, plain and simple. Chud's playbook would have to be limited to short passes and screen because Clausen lacks the deep ball.

Is it really? I know that's what they want to do, but is it working so far?

I just don't understand why Anderson isn't in the running as a starter for us. Why are they pushing for Cam to be the starter so badly? Ticket sales is the only reason i can figure but we need to look at the big picture. Let Cam sit and learn until he's ready regardless how long it takes.

That also puzzles me. Seems like Anderson scored a sweet gig and came here with the understanding that he would not be playing and is only here to answer questions about the system.

If you really believe that then you're hopeless.

The coaching staff is obviously liking Cam over Jjimmy at this point, so it doesn't matter what I believe. It's what the coaches believe, and it looks like Cam is gonna be our starting day opener. :auto:

Careful, don't mess with the Cam-huggers, they are relentless.

Clausen nut-huggers are more annoying to me because there's absolutely nothing to point in terms of performance OR potential and a body of work that flat out reeks - to this day.

I'm not going to say Cam looks great or even good, but why the argument keeps returning to "Cam or Clausen" is beyond me.

Cam or Anderson might be a conversation worth having.

    • Congratulations do they know who the father is?
    • In my opinion Fitterer was probably right about not paying McCaffrey. Now not wanting to "pay RBs" in my opinion isn't something you want to set in stone, to me it all comes down to the individual.
    • Maybe I'm just not understanding, but everywhere that I have read says that signing bonuses go against the cap prorated by as much as five years. The following example uses Andrew Luck's rookie contract as an example. "Take Andrew Luck, the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. Luck signed a four-year contract with the Colts worth $22.1 million and included a $14.5 million signing bonus. Rather than a $14.5 million cap hit in 2012, the Colts spread out his signing bonus over the life of his contract. The hit against the cap would be $3.625 million per year over four years instead of a direct cap hit of $14.5 million directly in 2012. This gave the Colts more leverage and cap flexibility in signing other players." https://www.the33rdteam.com/nfl-signing-bonuses-explained/ I don't know why some of you think that signing bonuses aren't counted against the cap over the length of the contract, but whatever.   "The bonus with a signing is usually the most garish aspect of a rookie contract. Bonus is the immediate cash players receive when they ink a deal. It factors into the cap, but only for the whole contract duration, in terms of salary cap calculations. In the case of Bryce Young’s $24.6 million signing bonus, that’s prorated to approximately $6.15 million per season over a four-year deal. This format allows teams to handle the cap and provides rookies with some short-term fiscal stability, which is important given the high injury risk in this league." https://collegefootballnetwork.com/how-rookie-contracts-work-in-the-nfl/ I understand how signing bonuses can be a useful tool in order to manage the cap, and as one of the article suggests, signing bonuses may become important if you have a tight cap, but the bill is always going to come due. I'm not necessarily referring to you Tuka, but it seems to me that others simply don't want to understand that fact which is why they're reacting to what I'm saying negatively. How odd. In any event, I have a better general understanding of why signing bonuses are used now, and it's generally to fit salaries under the cap. Surely players, whether they be rookies or not, love a signing bonus because they get a good portion of their money up front. This in turn gives them more security and probably amounts to tax benefits as well. I also understand why teams would not want to use signing bonuses, particularly for players or draftees who have a higher probability of being gone before a contract even ends.
