Shocker: I'm told the Panthers have waived DE Everette Brown.
Per Caplan

Update:

In a big surprise, the Carolina Panthers have waived DE Everette Brown, thesidelineview.com has learned.

Brown, who was selected in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Panthers, appeared in 28 games and started three over his two years of play.

Brown never really developed into the player that the Panthers thought that they were getting based on his college tape. Personnel sources said that his lack of pass rush moves and size contributed to his struggles at the NFL level. But the talented defender clearly is capable of producing good sack numbers with further development with a coaching staff is willing to take a chance on him.

Brown, 24, will be subject to the waiver process since he’s not a vested veteran.

Brown has two years left on his contract and is set to earn $535,000 in base salary this season.

The Panthers gave up their first-round selection in the 2010 draft in order to select Brown.

    • I presented that scenario because this is a home game and we seemed to have improved in some capacity in that area as of recently. The problem with the possibility of sweeping the Bucs is this team has had a habit of quickly falling victim to momentum shifts. The Bucs are coming off a bitter loss the same as the Panthers but the Bucs have a much better proven track record this time of year and they have performed when the pressure is on unlike our Panthers. We have a shot against the Seahawks here in BOA but that is a matchup that could quickly get out of hand because they are a well coached team and that goes back to the momentum shifts I mentioned. I just don't see this team beating the Bucs in their stadium to close the season. Tall order to say the least.
    • I’d give it another year for Sanders and Evans, I don’t much care what you do with Tremble’s spot. Let him have another year or maybe replace him. Haven’t looked at his contract so that may be the determining factor.
    • Following the crazy up down pattern we finish 9-8 with an improbable sweep of TB, and lay an egg in the home playoff game.  I don’t know if I can sign on to sweeping TB but I suppose it’s possible, they aren’t really that good this year.    ps I can buy beating TB Sunday and losing to Seattle.  Then it just gets to can you fluke one game. Any given Sunday. So we’ll see.
