What Our Roster Looks Like Now

As long as this team competes, is more aggressive on both sides of the ball, opens up the playbook on both sides of the ball, and the youth shows improvement as the season wears along, I'll be happy. I don't care about records, playoffs, etc. this season as long as the product is tolerable. Some of our 7-9 & 8-8 seasons were boring and I had a very "meh" kinda attitude towards it. Fox football is out and I hope Rivera ball is a breath of fresh air. This Panthers' team ain't your typical Panthers team, and I'm cool with it.

- An offense that features a dynamic TE

- An offense that DOES believe in the deep ball

- An offense that has a QB with ridiculous athletic ability and a cannon for an arm.

- An offense with size in the trenches, looks to beat up the defense rather than finesse.

- A WR unit that features almost completely new players outside of Smitty and LaFell.

Except for linebackers, the defense has question marks all over the place and will be what keeps us from being a winning team, but again, that's okay. Rivera is a defensive mind, and I'm sure it will be a blue-collar type of D that isn't afraid to hit, fly to the ball and harass the QB.

probably jason williams... I'd still like us to grab another Tackle too. Are we really comfortable throwing in Ziemba if Otah or Gross go down?

I think it will be a lineman just because I don't think we keep 10 on the roster. Maybe CJ, Mack or Bell. It could be a LB, but I could see us holding on to the LB until we get another DB for ST purposes.

Also, everyone thinks it will be Jason Williams that will be cut, and I hope it is, but we have 4 MLB on the roster right now. Thomas Williams is a fan favorite, but I could see him getting the axe.

As much as we need a WR like Jeffrey, I don't see how we can ignore a stud DL(DT or DE) in the first round.

If Jeffery or any other WR is rated ahead of a particular DL on the Panthers draft board then that should be the pick. Reaching can be a bad thing, that's why scouts exist

I thought Robert Mcclain was ahead of RJ Stanford on the depth chart. Maybe McClain can develop into a starter.

Stanford > McClain

We need a "homerun" in the next few days..... A threesome of Tommie Harris, Alex Brown & trade for a #2 CB. I think a 5-11 record is our wheelhouse this year regardless, but that would guarantee one of the following:

WR: Alshon Jeffrey, Justin Blackmon

CB: Dre Kirkpatrick, Alfonso Dennard

DT: Jarrel Worthy, Brandon Thompson

As much as we need a WR like Jeffrey, I don't see how we can ignore a stud DL(DT or DE) in the first round.

pssh...lock down CB ftw.

Edit: forgot about Hogan so DL it is.

So one of the following will need to be cut for acquiring Hangartner....an LB or O-Lineman most likely.....I wouldn't think a team can sit with 54 signed players at any time after final cuts.

It's just a technicality. Right now I believe the official roster still has Considine and not MJG or Hangartner. http://www.panthers.com/team/roster.html

They probably can't "officially" sign Hangartner until someone is cut.

CJ Davis, or Jason Williams? We have too many offensive linemen right now and I just don't see Bell being cut over Davis. We also have a lot of Linebackers but I think we will keep all of them until Beason is healthy. I think Jason Williams would be the first linebacker to be released then it would be Thomas Williams. Both guys are good enough to find a job elsewhere if they do end up being cut. I wish we wasn't loaded at linebacker so we could watch Thomas Williams play. I love watching him play, he plays hard every play and can lay the wood.

    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
