Jones Visiting Titans

The Titans on Thursday hosted return man Mark Jones, a former University of Tennessee star who played last season with the Panthers.

The team is continuing to explore its options in the event Chris Carr leaves in free agency.

Jones played at Tampa Bay and the New York Giants prior to joining the Panthers in 2008.

In his career he has just 2 catches for 32 yards -- both catches coming last season. He has been primarily a return man instead. A year ago Jones averaged 24.0 yards on 40 returns. The fifth-year pro has a career average of 24.2 yards.

"I think they are just trying to take a look at him in the event Carr signed somewhere else,'' said agent Brian Levy, who represents Jones. "I've talked to some other teams about him, so we'll see.''

Also on Thursday, cornerback Eric Green agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins. Green visited the Titans last week on a free agency visit.

In addition to Jones, the Titans also remain interested in return man Justin Miller, who also visited with team officials last week. Miller played last season the the Jets and Raiders.

Ha...I thought this was another Jones...I thought Tenn. lost their mind.

Mark is a solid player, I just don't think he was ever in our long terms plans and was only here because RR got hurt. Fox still sees it as his job and Jones is just an afterthought.

Mmmmm, Carr...

As crappy as oaktown has been the past few years, he excelled at KR. I think he's just a decent CB. He is small but he's hella fast.

Wiki: In 2006 he became the Raiders all-time leader in kickoff returns with a total of 142 for 3,514 yards.

Yes, that's where I was thinking more than CB...

    • Yeah it is nice seeing some improvement on the defensive side and the young guys.   I don’t want to think about the future much if Bryce doesn’t heal and we are kept in this limbo via an incomplete test. It is depressing  I don’t have quite as dim a view of the 24 draft class as you do   I have modest hopes for XL compared to none. I like CSW.  Am a little cooler on Sanders but at the same time realized this week that Morgan getting that future 2nd for moving down turned into Scourton. I think. Jackson is a real value in exchange for the guy we took with the 7th. I don’t expect anything from Brooks but Wallace seems to have improved enough to not bust. And Coker is in with them, but is giving us nothing this year. So far, and it is almost half over     I hope Andy still has enough to make watching the offense less of a claustrophobic experience. And there is a small chance we upset the Bills but just playing them tough and making it a fun game to watch will be enough.
    • Bryce haters gunna hate.  Can't change that. Bryce has been pretty durable all things considered.  A couple minor injuries considering how much he was hammered year 1.  And he still takes hits.  Dude is tough. The play in question is a football play, poo happens.  That's ultimately what happened.  Guys running around, trying to stop Young and stuff happened.  Sucks but that's how it goes. For me, I'd rather see Young play.  He will either prove that he's the Dude, a JAG (leaning heavily right now), or an outright bust (some of you were there on draft night, lol)
    • I think we need to let the 2025 class develop. Remember at one point early during last season the 2024 class was gonna be a killer. And we had all kinds of people chirping about how the 2021 Draft was the greatest of all time. Early returns are promising. Let's hope it continues.
