Been nursing Al all day. He went down once, went on is side and I thought he was dying. Eyes were even starting to roll. got him turned over...massaged his abdomen...got him up...then got some baking soda in him. He was still up and down. Also recommended is Tide and something similar to Digel. Went to the store and got both. He was not crazy about the Tide.

Since he is doing ok. Is still weak but no bloating in a few hours. Will give him another treatment (MOM)...a little feed...and hope for the best overnight.

Wish us luck.

I went to a feed store...they said goat life expectancy is 7-9 yrs. I think it is more...likely 12-15. Anyway....even though Al is an old guy..we love each other and I want him to stay around a while.

Sorry to hear about your loss, my grandpa has goats and he is very fond of them. He is a farmer and he wont sell them he likes the milk.

Thanks. If your grandfather has any advice, I would welcome it.

Al is hanging in there. Still puny, still worried. Just got an new antitoxin recipe f he has been poisoned. I have been giving most of it...but am mixing the new recipe now.

I do think there was a new toxic plant growing. Age may have been a factor in the effect. I still feel terrible. Doing everything I can to save Al.

I was walking through the holding area for dogs of the Spartanburg Humane Society a few years ago and all of a sudden there's this goat staring at me. Scared the poo out of me as I wasn't expecting it. I never realized they could be pets. So sorry for your loss.

Pigmy Goats are so cool! I wanted one, but the then girlfriends nixxed that idea. Now in the Condo, we can only have dog and/or cats, and up to 2 of them. (What a stupid friggin rule!)

There's a guy either in Union Co or just across in SC that sells them. I have several people tell me they are easier to care for than a dog.

I'm so sorry LadyPanther, goats are sooo cool!

I hope Al pulls through!

Thanks guys. Al looks better this morning! Is eating treats enthusiastically and followed me this morning. Looks stronger. Am hoping we are out of the woods with this crisis.

Took the morning off. I can watch him for a little while. He is now just outside the window I am sitting by standing and munching on the salt block.
