I think this is the worst offseason in recent memory.

No, not the worst offseason for the Panthers. I actually think they are in decent shape.

I am talking the worst offseason for the fans. The season ended on a huge turd of a game, and little has been done to regain the excitement for the fans. Its just harder than normal to get pumped up for the upcoming season, more so than seasons past.

Things that would cure this football recession....

1. Peppers officially trade and Panthers get any first round pick.

2. Summer School starts in the end of May - serious QB competition is announced

Other than that, I can't think of much.

Help?

May not be much newswise, but the Panthers did have an individual workout of a college player. Per KFFL, they worked out safety Eric Johnson of William Jewell College.

A very basic bio can be found here: Eric Johnson

(He's 23, but his pic makes him look like he's pushing 30) :sosp:

Word has been that the Panthers were hoping to stockpile draft picks. Sadly, part of that strategy was a Lucas trade that didn't pan out.

There is still the hope of the Peppers trade, though I think no one should be on the edge of their seat for that one till it gets closer to draft day.

The annual league-wide free agency slowdown will come soon as teams begin to focus more on the draft. Thus, the dearth of news will be hitting everyone, not just us.

Best chance for news is likely the team snagging one of its own free agents like Mark Jones or Jason Kyle, but even those might be a while. There's also the possibility of a veteran pickup like Dwayne Robertson or Torry Holt.

Given that Robertson is one of the few names we've heard connected to the Panthers, I fear everyone will melt down if he signs elsewhere.

    • Hornets lead down to 16 early in the third.   Derrick White is single handedly keeping the Celtics in this game.
