The shortened offseason probably had more of an impact on this team than a lot of us realize. New everything from the ground up had no existing foundation to build on so the system had to be installed brand-new. I think it's apparent from watching the first two games that our staff chose to devote more offseason time to the passing game than the running game.

If we'd had a full offseason I believe this would look different. We didn't so we have what we have. I would be absolutely stunned if our run game is not substantially improved shortly.

Also have to consider that people probably were still looking at this offense saying "ok make him beat you throwing"...and despite putting up huge numbers that might not significantly change until we...you know...beat someone throwing. Once that happens the run game might magically open up a little.

The running game will pick up, It won't be contained for the whole season, we will make plays through the ground. I'm very happy about the O-line giving Cam time to throw that ball around.
