Simple way to stop Jaguars run game and MJD.

It forces their rookie QB to THROW THE BALL. Which does give our D a chance to stop them..

But both the Cardinals and Packers have shut down our running game so far, which has forced Cam to throw the ball. 422 and 432 yards respectively. Not saying I expect the Jaguars to win, because I don't, but since we don't have any game tape on Gabbert, it makes him more dangerous. The fact that Godfrey is out makes me nervous. I don't care if its a high school QB, I don't want to rely on Jordan Pugh to stop the pass.

Valid concern, but any coach is probably still going to rather have his D stack up against a rookie QB, even without tape, than against a star running back, he knows he's going to have trouble stopping.

No one was afraid of Clausen last year just cause they didn't have tape. It's the same situation with Gabbert. I DON'T expect a Cam-like performance. Could he light it up? Sure! Anything's possible. But again, what Cam did is typically the exception to the rule.

You can still prepare for their offense and playbook. The issue with Cam for other teams is what he can personally do outside of that. The throwing on the run, the jukes, the diving throws, the way he stands in the face of pressure at the NFL level.....his personal talent that went above and beyond what anyone expected.

Personally I don't see that type of game-changing ability from Gabbert, but hey...anything can happen. You just can't prepare for "anything". You have to prepare for what you most likely expect to happen.

Green Bay? They gave the ball to us. They had the confidence of coming back from behind even if we scored, and getting the ball first in the second quarter. Paid off for them I would say.

IMO, the Panthers playing GBP was a completely different animal than say them playing Cardinals. The Panthers had to score early and hard for two reasons; confidence builder and because they were playing a team who can score and score quick. U knew realistically if the Panthers didn't come out playing hard, the game would have been over before it got going.

I see the Jags more inline with the Cardinals. They are a little more evenly matched with the Panthers. The mindset should be to win and win early for the reasons that I think u're stating, the Panthers' defense have shown a nack to let the game get away from them.

The Panthers are two games into the season and have played with two different levels of opponents, so they should have an idea what kind of team they are working with by now. But, in reality, a smart team knows there aren't any real weak teams out there. So the feeling that the Jags should be an easy win shouldn't even be a thought when ur own team isn't running on all cylinders.
