then you have to say goodson and peloha stink too because none of them have played any better yet. they are all at the bottom of the return game.

coincidence? does that seem like the problem might be elsewhere? saaaaay blocking? hmmm.

Goodson also fumbles a lot which is generally bad for a return guy. However he may still be our best return guy.

Pilares is our current return guy, isn't he?

He needs one more year to see if he can improve and if not then cut him. As many have said, we tried to take a QB and make not only a WR out of him but a PR, something that usually takes years to learn to do. He dropped punts and gave Fox just what he wanted, a reason to bench him. What did AE do? He worked his butt off in the off season learning to catch punts and to run routes. Problem is, how do you catch a punt? You let it come into your body. How do you catch passes? With your hands. His routes improved because he was open many times in the pre season but he was having problems catching passes. Why? He was letting the ball get to his body, just like he worked on to catch punts. He needs to spend time now learning to catch passes with his hands and to learn to outwork a defender when they both have their hands on the ball. Will he learn to do that during the season? No one knows. He might need another off season to work on his routes and catching passes.

As far as his speed, what most of you don’t seem to get is he is still running like an option QB. At App, even on a called QB draw, he took time to pick his lanes and then started to run. It looks very slow when he does that but I’ve seen him from ground level and he does have speed when he kicks in his other gears. He does have them he just doesn't use them properly. He just has to learn to start running at full speed instead of trying to pick a lane first. Instinct for him is to still run like a QB and not a receiver or returner. He has to get over that or he will never be a proper returner. Give him one more off season and then if he doesn’t we should cut our losses and let him go to the CFL and win a few Grey Cups as a QB.

I will bet anyone on here that Edwards will not play next year either. He very well may not get cut cause Hurney hates to admit he screwed up but AE will not improve because he is just not a WR. He was a project that should have been picked up in the 6th not the 3rd.

  • 2 weeks later...

Doubt Armanti all you want as a WR, but the fact remains that Devin Hester would have the same PR avg if he played on these special teams..

You done lost you rabbit A mind . That last punt against Minn. He had plenty room and still did nothing .

    • It is all confusing and layered. SB is the cash you get very soon within weeks or in simple terms, its what you get to sign the paper work. Players and agents can agree on contract but what to "wait" to sign......teams don't like that cause you can "Carlos Boozer" yourself. In order to get that ink dry, while keeping the contract the same, portion it as a bonus to "sign" and get the funds with ________ .   * But Ive seen worded contracts that split the SB or a 20% to a later date. The beans counters can fill in the details about why certain dates are better and save the team money.. Theres tricks to the trade and accounting is full of them.    Ugh another big layer, is SB can be used to manipulate cap and players. Ill try to give a example that makes enough sense. Believe it or not having a owner like Tepper is a cheat code for this. He has cash in hand, where as Mark Davis had problem making pay roll and had to move the team to Vegas....... Tepper can give you 100,000,000 SB right now and the team can spread out the cap hit. Another owner doesn't have or want to give the player 100,000,000 in cash, but offered the same guaranteed contract in roster bonuses fully guaranteed over the next few years........ Which one do you want??? Everyone wants the money now, not before another inflation waves hits in 2 years. So it does 'pay" to have a owner like tepper that's able to have real cash on hand, while it also works GREAT for cap help. Heres a good video, if you can stand coked up pat and mask look-a-like AJ
    • I don't know. CMC is like others and may have lip serviced that line of " I had no plan or wanted to leave Carolina" I think he even said he bought a house too and wanted this to be home.   Here's what I heard- In a way Panthers org gave him a test and he didn't "fight" back. They approached CMC and told him they wanted to put him on IR since the "season" was over or out of playoff reach. CMC didn't fight it one lick and agreed. They secretly wanted him to kept playing or want to, but there was no kickback. I honestly don't know if its real or not, 5th hand information type deal doing on. Yes he had bruises and pains, but was able to play...... but went along with Panthers staff. Odd to be playing games with star players, but whatever....   Plus the staff doctors found out about his tendinitis and there was nothing to fix it. Even with him missing time, it was the best move to trade him before he got inflamed constantly.    Lastly, its mostly time a combo of stuff, Fitterererere did not sign him to be the highest paid RB. That was classic Marty "give me a" herniay doing. GMs have different values on roster spots and rumor was Fitterererer was one that didn't want to pay RBs. For all his faults, he's right about that......
    • I think google is confusing signing bonus with guaranteed money. If you get a guarantee of say $10 million, it doesn’t matter if the signing bonus is $5 or $8 million, it’s the $10 million number that affects the cap, as the signing bonus is always just a portion of the guaranteed money anyways. And again, I’ll admit I’m not 100% sure about it, but I’m pretty sure it is the case.
