Some fear Luck could make a power play

You absolutely do get that choice. No one forces you to play in the NFL. The player could simply let the team know that he would rather play somewhere else and probably won't sign with them if they draft him, so he's doing them a favor. They can trade him and get compensation back in return instead of drafting him and him not signing.

Bo Jackson did that very thing. Unfortunately for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they didn't believe him and thought they had him over a barrel.

Then he signed with the Kansas City Royals.

The thing about Luck though is that he doesn't have that kind of leverage. Does he play baseball at a high level? If not, then he'll be sitting out a year, losing a year in income (and this is now on a salary cap, so you really have a hard time getting that income back), and taking the risk that NEXT YEAR there won't be a QB as good as he is on top of not having sat out a year.

Bo Jackson called their bluff. Will Luck have the balls to do it? I doubt it.

lol my bad I must have fallen asleep during geography class when Nebraska beaches were the topic of discussion

Lesson learned.

Luck can go back to school, be an engineer, etc.

I don't think he's the type of kid that will do that and ultimately this story has as much credibility as Cam's fake smile story but I'll let the bitter rejects have their fun at Luck's expense.

I deleted the post because the content didn't match the context of what you were trying to say.

It was wrong, like I said, good decision.

Funny how people bash Luck for this, even though it's based on nothing and is pure speculation, but everyone who criticized Cam before the draft for real things, they were racist assholes who wanted to keep the blacks from playing the QB position.

Funny how bitter people get when the one they want turns them down.

Now TRD, what are these "real things" of which you speak?

All those "real things" that were later proven not to be so "real"?

That Cam had a run/pass ratio of nearly 1:1.

280 passes, 264 rushes. Many of those "rushes" were pass plays.

He was facing expulsion from Florida for cheating so he transferred.

Absolute utter untruth and the fact that you still choose to spread it just goes to show what a low-life you are, TRD.

What would happen if Luck decided to avoid the draft entirely and simply try to be signed undrafted?

He could basically choose the team he wanted to go to right?

Is there cap on how much money an undrafted player can make/be signed to as a rookie?

All first year players are part of the draft.

What does that even mean?

Why are they in parenthesis, were they not real? Florida thing wasn't real?

k.

They're not in parentheses, they are within quotation marks.

And what it means is that in college football, a sack is counted as a rush, while in the NFL it is not. So many of those "rushes" were actually pass plays (sacks).

And Newton transferred to Blinn JC without any problems. If there had been ANY academic impropriety, he would not have been able to transfer to either Blinn *or* to Auburn.

My apologies, you are correct with the quotes.

You can transfer from any D1 school to any non D1 school no matter what, they are completely different and doesn't matter what you did at the D1 school.

You can then transfer from any non D1 school to any D1 school after a year out of a D1 school without any further problems.

How many times did Cam get sacked in college? I can't imagine much, 65 would be 5 times a game, which is a ton for anyone, especially someone as mobile as Cam. That would only bring the ratio up from 1.06:1 to 1.41:1, still a big concern. I'm guessing that sack number is immaterial but you are just grasping.

No, but don't you think it's irrational to treat them differently based on pure speculation? People wanted to lynch the media based on concerns over fact with Cam, now they want Luck to suffer based on speculation from probably one scout.

Or if it's not irrational, people should admit that they are only upset because they obviously wanted Luck but we had to settle for Cam.

It's natural that people feel resentful over those they believe spurned them, that doesn't mean they aren't still satisfied about what happened.

Chargers fans still dislike Eli over holding them hostage, but every one of them are happy that trade happened now and none of them would take it back.

I was salivating for luck at the end of last season and pissed when he didn't come out, but there's no way I'd trade Cam for him now.

Further proof that his Dad made the decision that he did NOT want his Son playing for the Carolina Panthers, but who the hell cares. We have Cam.

There is no proof in any of that. The article is pure speculation. The title says "some fear..." Just because they fear it, does not prove anything.

    • Such a dumb pick and most of us knew it Ladd would’ve been the perfect match with Bryce But instead they draft XL to fill the void at the X spot because we had a 34 year old Adam Thielen. Then a year later we draft a real X WR and move XL inside where he has absolutely no business being for a list of reasons
    • My logic was hopefully a new HC would have a LOT quicker hook for Bryce. But, that is assuming they would even be allowed. I guess that's a call to the owner's box for permission.
    • I’m not overly defending the pick. I was team Stroud by a country mile but I also knew what to expect as far as ceiling goes with Bryce  I had concerns with Bryce’s arm strength and size. Neither seem to overly be an issue. He’s proven to throw with enough anticipation that he makes up for a lack of velocity. I was worried about the way he played in college not translating to the league. Spending 8 seconds behind LOS. I did also think it would take Young a few years for him to reach his full potential. I also think he’s too smart and accurate to flat out bust which all of seems to be pretty accurate Bryce is someone you can absolutely win with. No one thought he’d be the type to carry a well below average supporting cast to a Super Bowl. He’s fully capable of giving you those 4-5 special plays a game that help your team win. And then you have those rare times where he’s the reason you win like in Atlanta.  All good teams have more than just a QB.  Even the teams that are winning this year all have a lot more than what we have. Supporting cast/defense… more than what we have  As far as Morgan goes I 100% agree. Fwiw he was legit team Bryce during the draft process. I know that for a fact. Last years draft is a complete write off. This past draft still up for debate. TMac and Scourton look solid. I can’t remember the last time I saw Princely win a rep and I’m being honest. Ransom has a little value. I think ETN is a nice insurance add. Evans could be a TE2.    I think this offseason Morgan will get aggressive with trying to land a pass rusher. Whether that’s a trade for Crosby, signing Hendrickson, it’s going to be top priority. We need a ILB. I really like Kaden Ellis. Sonny Styles should be in our draft range. We also need a tight end and it would be interesting to see this offseason with Kenyon Sadiq
