True or False: Cam Newton is already a "star" QB based on...

...the calls that he receives?

Cam has clearly been the beneficiary of several questionable "roughing" calls this season. I can admit that, can you? I just had to shake my head over a few of them that were clearly not late or high. He seems to get one "gifted" roughing call every game, and got two in the Saints game.

On Sportsnation they were debating Rothlisberger's comments about him getting hit all the time while the NFL protects many other QBs like Brady and Brees because "who wants to see the Patriots without Brady"? Same thing Vick was saying earlier in the season.

So, "True or False", based on the calls that Cam has been gifted, is it safe to say that the NFL views Cam on that "Brady" level and may be trying to protect their product, since Cam brings in the eyeballs even when the Panthers lose (just ask the NFL Network and their replays of three Panthers losses)?

Clearly, I say "True".

Cam is an entertaining player the league wants protected. He's gotten more roughing the passer calls than probably all the QB's in Panther history combined. I'm exaggerating but I say yes, he's a guy the NFL wants to see play on Sundays.

not particularly. these roughing the passer calls have gotten more and more questionable and inconsistent, its happening to every qb. i mean there was that one play vs altanta where he helmet was nearly ripped off and there was no flag. then during the zona game someone barely tipped his facemask when he was throwing the ball and it drew a flag.

newton will get more of these calls than other qbs mostly because hes able to hold onto the ball for so long and is so strong. you really gotta put a lot of hit on him just to get him to stagger.

    • Thats a weird take, we had no chance at keeping Kobe
    • "by name"?  You mean they are letting him say he is retiring or stepping down? That's even more embarrassing than being fired (he basically quit) and so transparently false that the media will kill him and this university.  If this happens, I may just turn full fledge to an SMU fan since I live in Dallas now. I'm just about sick of this university's approach to basketball and football.
