No 1st round pick? We're ahead of the game...

A lot has been made of not having a first round pick this year. Of course we all know we got two last year so really, its like picking a first round Tackle this year who already has a year's experience.

We're the only team in the league picking a veteran in the first round this year!

Nice spin! I also think that if there was ever a year to be happy about not having a 1st round pick it is this one. I do wish however that our 2nd round pick was a little higher up...

if we had a higher pick it would have meant that we were worse last year.

Oh I know, I was commenting more on how it looks like there is going to be a lot of quality guys in the early to mid 2nd round that I would prefer to have than the guys going in the first round. If the Panthers were to trade up into that position I think the quality would be just as good as drafting in the first round.

Whose you QB going to be this year?

How are the Bucs doing in FA?

didn't you hear they got cassell in a trade? that's what he came in here to tell us a while back. you should have been paying attention.

oh yeah...highest bidder for haynesworth. sealed the deal, you bet.

Anyone else sort of not that jazzed about the Draft this year? I mean, if Pep stays, we'll be watching for a good three hours before our first pick (guess). I'd almost rather just read a recap that night.

Naaa.. the draft is fun. Its fun to watch a star be born.

Thats why I like Williams so damn much. He was "my" wish pick for us and then we got him. So the odds of that happening are slim, its kinds like if i was the coach/gm its the decision i would have made, so to see it work out is all the better. :D

It reinforces the fact that I think i am good on judging what it takes to be a good football player.

And I dont even watch college ball, I just pay attention before the draft.

    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
    • Canales can never get his teams ready in the first week of the season so far. Hope that changes or Ben Johnson is going to take his azz to school.
