"Cam should be the big story in the NFL right now."

I honestly do not like The Golden Calf of Bristol. I had respect for him until I saw him on ESPN saying that if you aren't a Christian then you will spend eternity in Hell. I just don't think it is right to force your beliefs on people. Not everyone has the same beliefs. He just needs to keep it to himself. Plus after seeing him play yesterday, he sucks. I don't care what he did in the final 5 minutes. It took them getting lucky on an onside kick to even have a chance. He looked pathetic the first 55 or so minutes. Cam continues to dominate all the time and is getting better every game. And he leaves his religious beliefs off the field and keeps them to himself.

No. Today it's been all The Golden Calf of Bristol all the time on every national media outlet there is.

Good. Newton and the team can concentrate on practicing.

Fluff stories do nothing to help the team but I suppose it gives a lot of fans the warm fuzzy happy feelings they need.

The good thing is that if Newton was going to succumb to the bright lights and high praise, he would have done so after week 1. Probably just about every ESPN show, TV and radio, wanted an interview with him, but no one got it. Cam's staying focused on the task at hand, ESPN media lovefest or not.

That being said, I do get sick of hearing about The Golden Calf of Bristol and how his highlights from this week all start with 3 minutes to go in the game.

Nobody in the media watched any of the game besides the final 3 minutes. He looked absolutely terrible, and his throwing motion is the worst of any NFL qb i've ever seen.

Believe u/me the folks on NFLN were doing their mightiest to defend what he is doing. I seriously wonder how long it will last until the has to start acting like a QB.

And the funny thing is The Golden Calf of Bristol is receiving praise for what guys like Vince Young BEEN doing. Putting up 150 yards passing and winning games. When Vince did it we never heard the end of how he aint a real passer or his comp sucked, but The Golden Calf of Bristol does it and its national news and his "arrival" if you will into the NFL.

Unfortunately, this couldn't be more true. Very curious, no?

    • Ppl want to trade Melo? Am I wrong for thinking that would be a bad idea?
    • Some of you act like one can't learn from experience over time. Just because you may not know what you're doing in 2018 doesn't mean that you don't know what you're doing in 2025. Frankly, you grow from experience, and success and excellence gives first-time applicants the hand probably 99.999% of the time.
    • It's an interesting topic of conversation as sports evolves. I think ultimately it would lead to a number of small market franchises folding though. Especially in the NBA where there are so many bad teams that have been bad for years and years in some cases already. But as it stands I think athlete pay draft or no draft aside has reached a point where we can and should realistically ask should they make that much compared to the average person. Now college athletes is a different conversation but even that reaches a breaking point. But we could go down the rabbit hole on this even further into overall entertainment and talk about actors making absurd sums too. In the end I think in sports the powers that be won't allow these changes to even be considered because it opens the door for so many other variables. But who knows how long sports like football will realistically be around after people like us pass on. We're only just now learning about things like CTE which the league and the sport in general will only be able to run away from for so long. As far as the NBA goes my understanding is viewership has been steadily going down for a number of reasons but one crucial aspect is key players missing so many games. The NBA has to figure that out regardless. Especially when considering fans who pay to see these athletes compete in person. But hey I guess let's just try to appreciate what we've got while it still exists in this form eh?
