Meyer also said the Alex Smith (who he coached at Utah) and The Golden Calf of Bristol had played poorly because they were on lousy teams (presumably with lousy coaches), but were playing better now since the teams (and coaches) were better. Thank God we had a good team(and coach) to put around Cam or we might be stuck with a lousy QB.

He is kinda right about Alex Smith... Not that Smith is a great quarterback imo, but I think he's decent enough to win with (especially in that division) and I think a lot of his troubles came from repeated changes in coaching/offensive systems and the general upheaval that has characterized that team for years.
