Thanksgiving Prep

I usually start prepping for T'giving as soon as I get the halloween deco down, which is today.

But this year will be a bit different, because of health reasons I switched myself and my family to a whole foods diet. I'm trying to figure out how to make all the traditional thanksgiving goodies with out all the white stuff. Am I nuts? Should I even try? or should I just say the hell with whole foods for the day just and give me some pie dammit?

sweet potatoes instead of regular mashed is fine. I'm pretty sure thats what was available for the first Thanksgiving too. If someone outside the family really bitches you can make a little bowl for them on the side. Use whole wheat bread in your stuffing, and brown rice.

Then again, like mpf said, its just one day.

We do traditional. Turkey, gravy, dressing, sweet tater casserole...

Thanksgiving is usually nonprocessed foods anyway for us.

The things I'm concerned about are the things I'd normally put sugar or white flour in. I just don't think pie or other goodies would be the same made with Whole wheat/grain flour and an all natural sweetener.

The issue is, everytime I've eaten anything remotely non whole foody, I get sick and feel like poo for a week. I swear it's much like a hangover. I got sick yesterday because I ate lunch with Dan at a chinese place. I asked for brown rice and they looked at me like I had a fugging boob on my head. I've had a hangover since then.

I love eating a whole foods diet. I eat better than I've ever have. My blood work is perfect. I feel better than ever. I can run circles around my kid most of the time, which was impossible before. My skin, hair & nails look better than when I was in my 20's. And best of all, my Graves Disease is still in remission for 2 years running and I'm almost off all rx meds for Graves disease related issues. I still have to take a pooload of vitamins every day but it's not near as much as it once was.

I used to think whole foodies were nuts when I'd hear them talk about eating this way for health but I just cant say enough about it.

I always thought it would be bland and torturous but it's not. I eat high on the hog most of the time.

    • Jack Roslovic: Only 2 other UFA, right-handed centers age 28 or under had more points (39) than him- Sam Bennett (51) and Pius Suter (46). There were 4 other centers age 33 and older who scored more: Gireaux (37), Marchand (37), Tavares (34), Granlund (33).  Unless the Canes go old, if they let Jack walk, they won't get a center who scored more.  Thoughts?
    • nope     This is why we come back every year.  Hope springs eternal
    • It's important to differentiate criticism and hate. I can't speak for that individual you quoted. But most people who have been critical of the Tepper's have been so because both of them have made it a point to put themselves front and center and in the middle of team operations and we have been largely horrific more often than not as a result. If people are making derogatory remarks about her that should be met with an appropriate response but if people are being defensive just because she's being criticized all I can say is people should get used to it. Both her and David would have been getting absolutely skewered by the media and the fans if this were a big market franchise. The Lakers are finally being sold off after years and years of public criticism of Jeannie Buss and even though I'm the furthest you could go from being a Lakers fan just about anyone you could meet who is familiar with the NBA would say the criticism was certainly valid.
