Not that it's the reason we lost, but...

Well when we commit so many penalties, I think the refs have their hands on the yellow flag in anticipation and maybe through it too quickly. The worst call I think was that incidental touching of Hasselback's helmet in the 3rd or 4th, that was just ridiculous.

Yeah, that was another ridiculous call... but the missed blatant holding by more than one guy on that punt return directly resulted in 6 points. I don't know how the refs could have missed that?

I don't know, maybe all refs should have mandatory BAC testing prior to kick off. BTW, that one ref sounded like he was from Gastonia. Do not use him again!

Gave pie because I noticed that blown call right as it happened, as the punt return was right in front of me. That plus the incidental contact called for Hasselbeck really had the crowd fired up against the refs. Boos rained down until we finally made a few good plays and got a call or two to go our way. So much went wrong for us in this game, I guess you could say this is the snowball that started the avalanche.

The booing of the refs was hilarious. Me and my brother kept booing even when they made calls for us. That was a phantom call.

Not that it's the reason we lost, but if Capt. didn't get held badly on that punt return at the beginning of the game, then I don't know what holding is...

Rivera is right about us not getting calls.

Glad I'm not the only one who saw that! I raving mad screaming at the TV. How do you miss a call like that?

As bad as our STs are, no need to help out the other side with bullshit no calls like that.

The hold was questionable, they had him sandwiched. The guy between him and the returner had one hand on the front and on hand on his arm/shoulder.

If you are seeking someone to blame it on, blame it on Jason Baker who kicked the ball right to the sidelines without kicking it out, effectively neutralizing half of our kick coverage team. Or blame Dan Connor, he should be using the sideline like a 12th defender, and not standing almost right on it. He should have slid inside a bit more there, bc if the returner goes outside, then all he really has to do is get a hand on him to push him out. Plus it makes it an easier tackle for the trailing defender, Applewhite i think it was.

    • The Falcons have 2 significant offensive line injuries to start the 2025 season. Right tackle Kaleb Mcgary (who is the blindside protector for Penix since he is left-handed) is going to miss significant time, and it's looking more like it may be all season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-expect-kaleb-mcgary-to-miss-significant-time https://x.com/BKsquared7/status/1959285822236107013. Also, the top backup and swing tackle, Storm Norton (cool name BTW) is having ankle surgery and may miss half the season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-ot-storm-norton-out-6-8-weeks-after-ankle-surgery I don't root for injuries, but its also hard to be too sympathetic given how badly injuries have hit us in recent years. We definitely need to get that W in week 3 for our home opener at BOA. Despite our collective frustration at not being able to attend TC and then having boring preseason games, ultimately the most important objective of the preseason is to enter Week1 healthy, and we have at least done that. Hopefully the depth we think we have at Oline either shines through or isn't needed. Many other teams are in a bad spot with their offensive lines before the season even starts. For once, we aren't in that situation.
    • That roster was billed as a super smart and strong unit for a young QB….until he sucked though.   it didn’t have superstars but it had proven vets that checked well all the safe boxes and it was universally agreed the Panthers were putting him into position to succeed. BY just doesn’t fit a traditional O because he isn’t built like a traditional QB.  And he still doesn’t.   CJ Stroud would have had more success here than Bryce with that cast.   CJ just has the tools that fit the NFL more easily.  Young can find success but I have always argued it would take a Bryce centric plan (which we have never attempted IMO)
    • looks like the Lions and Bangles should forget about the playoffs, trade everyone they can, and start over.
