Rivera Presser

I've never ran into so many idiots that continue to repeat one of the dumbest and most ignorant statements I have personally ever heard on a sports forum: "a stat that tracks an offense efficiency isn't an offensive efficiency stat".

I've explained this multiple times, but YPP is a decent indicator of a team's efficiency (both offensive AND DEFENSIVE) but it's far from the flawless be-all end-all offensive stat you think it is.

As a hypothetical situation, a team that gets a special teams TD and a defensive TD but then goes 3 and out the entire rest of the game will have a much better YPP rating than a team that drives 60+ yards and scores on every possession but doesn't get any turnovers. Which team has the better offense?

Remember, the Scoreability Index is not merely an offensive indicator! It is a team-wide measurement of ability to turn yards into points. It takes into account a variety of factors (including proficiency of defense and special teams, red zone offense, and turnover differential) and then spits it all out in an easy-to-understand number.

uhm, okay, but the problem there is that the lions scored 7 points off 3 interceptions, and we had already given up our lead by that point... In other words, we maintained a lead just fine through Cam's previous interceptions and indeed we had put up quite a few points, giving our defense a double digit cushion. The defense also had long fields to work with many times and gave up HUGE TDs (Only once before they took the lead did the lions have a field that was shorter than 65 yards and that was due entirely to a special teams mistake).

Nobody expects our defense to stop an offense all the time, but it'd be nice for them to do it a bit more frequently than they do, especially on 80+ yard drives. Not to mention, when we did score in the 2nd and 4th quarter against the Lions, the defense immediately gave up 80 yard TD drives. So I don't buy that it's our offenses inability to move the ball that is destroying our defense. No, it's weakness in our defense (due to injuries leading to lack of depth, perhaps poor scheme, etc) that is hurting this team.

Since you seem to think the Lions had amazing field position after the first quarter to retake the lead, here are their TD drives, along with what the play was that gave them that field position:

2nd quarter: 80 yard TD drive, started on DET 20. Touchback. Score: 10-7

2nd quarter: 80 yard TD drive, started on DET 20. Touchback. Score: 24-14

(Notice that our offense kept scoring through the 2nd quarter. Didn't matter)

3rd quarter: 30 yard TD drive, started on CAR 30. Punt return + Penalty. Score: 27-21

3rd quarter: 66 yard TD drive, started on DET 34. Punt return. Score: 27-28

4th quarter: 69 yard TD drive, started on DET 31. Punt return. Score: 27-35

(Here we tie the game, woo us! Certainly the defense would be rejuvenated by... ahh nevermind)

4th quarter: 80 yard TD drive, started on DET 20. Touchback. Score: 35-42

4th quarter: 23 yard TD drive, started on CAR 23. Interception. Score: 35-49

The idea is turning over the ball kills your chances of winning.

So if I was to apply ur logic to other rookie QBs then why are the Bengals 7-4when Dalton is just 2 INTs off from Cam? Cam has 22 tds to Dalton's 17. Dalton has 3 fumbles as recorded to Cam's 5. If one is to apply ur logic and u want to argue that it's Cam's mistakes that is causing the Panthers to lose then shouldn't the Panthers be at least 5-6 by now?

Funny how so many bitch over every little thing Cam does while ignoring the fact that Dalton isn't doing that much better and yet his team is 7-4 and the Panthers are 3-8.

Something is wrong with ur logic because u seem to want to make the argument that Cam's ints and when they occur, and the offense not doing enough in the fourth qrter is causing the team to suffer. But u and many others seem to want to ignore the main reason why ur team is seriously hurting...ur defense keep trying to give away the game every Sunday.

Can u seriously argue that Broncos are winning because The Golden Calf of Bristol is playing lights out and because he isn't throwing INTs? He may not be making a lot of mistakes but he isn't throwing the ball much either and yet the Broncos have won 5-6 with him.

The real reason why the Broncos are where they are is because the DEFENSE believe in WINNING and do so by hold off their opponent while their struggling QB comes to life 5 minutes before the game ends. Do u seriously believe the Broncos would be winning if everytime their defense got on the field and they allow the opposing team to score until The Golden Calf of Bristol come to life? No, they make it their business to keep the score close. Something the Panthers defense need to practice.

I seriously don't get how some of u Panthers' fans think..

He still hasn't come out and pointed the finger at our passing issues, especially in the red-zone, pressure situations, or 4th quarter comebacks, but after today, I am fairly certain he's very much aware of it, and either has been too busy covering up things, or simply just now beginning to figure it out and learning as he goes along.

Your arrogance and false sense of self-worth knows no bounds.

So Rivera is just now figuring out what you have known all along? Give me a break.

According to you, he is either dishonest ("covering things up"), or stupid ("just now beginning to figure it out").

    • Do you even know what the term "below average" means? Because I'm genuinely not sure if you do. There are 32 QB's in the league, which means to be playing "above average" he'd have to be the 15th best QB at the league, and even then, that's in essence the "average NFL QB" still. Even going by these rankings, which have him 20th, that by itself is the definition of "below average", and that's before you consider there are multiple QB's ranked below him in this list that I'd 100% trade him for in a heartbeat. Again, no matter what you think the eye test tells you, he's made 28 starts and has a grand total of FOUR games over 247 yards.  Drake Maye has made 10 starts, all with a significantly worse group of pass catchers than Bryce has had, and he already has 3 games over that number himself. I don't need to see or know anything else beyond that to determine he is a below average QB in this league so far and I don't know how anyone can honestly argue against that.  If he was a Lamar Jackson type putting up 75+ yards rushing on a consistent basis, then you can look at those passing yards differently, but that's not the case here. Could he still improve and get to average or better?  Of course. But you're trying to extrapolate a few throws/drives/moments from a handful of games and trying to say that makes him even an average, if not above average, QB in this league.  Which is just nonsense when the players you're comparing him to have played at that level for full seasons or their entire careers.
    • My meds from the stone removal, so if I get extra grouchy. Ya know. 😂🤣😂
    • Who says no to the following.  Trade KK and Morrow for a draft pick of some sort.  Sign the following:  Bennett 8m AAV Ekblad 8m AAV Boeser 7.5m AAV Marner 13m AAV Cap numbers work after the trade of KK and Morrow.
