Pilares Again

Playing on special teams and being a returner are very different than being a receiver in the offense. You don't have to understand the playbook and offense to run back a kick but you do to play receiver. I am not saying that he doesn't know the receiver position simply that there are better options available to us. He is right where he needs to be.

Needs to work on his speed....Can't outrun a kicker ;)

Srsly though love the spark in the last few games.

The announcer who said the kicker ran him down apparently didn't notice the angle he had. It was more 'cut him off at the pass' than a run down. And even if he's not the fastest return guy, that record setting runback impressed the hell out of me.

Last week I could pass off as a fluke, but then it happens again.

I also recall that we hear his name on the other side of special teams as a gunner at least once a game.

Now I'm cautiously optimistic. Hurney, for all his faults, does find us some good late round talent.

i'd rather we kept him on special teams than make him a starter.

on the chance that we have found someone to make us respectable on the return game and while we have valid options at WR aside from him, why mess with a good thing and take him away from returning?

if he starts at WR, you essentially lose him as a returner.

If I'm not mistaken he plays gunner on punt returns. Guy has made one really solid tackle and assisted on two, generally being the first guy down there to make a play. He flys to his position and does a pretty good job getting off his blocks.

He played gunner at Hawaii so he has the experience.

yeah, he has the makings of a STs star, which is something we have been lacking for a long time.

i really don't want to lose that. if he is the real deal on STs then the hit that we would take on STs is greater than the benefit he would be bringing as a starter.

let him stay the 4th or 5th WR and our STs ace.

Pilares is just a rookie fluke, AE is where our future is at.

Pilares has not been 100% and is recovering. I have no doubt this dude will be mean and earn a roster spot but my worries for him come from being injury prone, but he has the tools and just needs work ethic.

He's made 1 good play this year. I'm not quite sure that's enough to call him special.

You obviously dont watch any Panther games. He had that 35 yard screen pass for a touchdown in preseason, A 101 yd KR for a TD, A 76 yd KR which would have been for another TD if he didnt pull his quad. And he makes big hits as a gunner. What has Armanti done with more time in the Nfl?
