Official Panthers/Falcons Tailgate Thread

Falcons come to town this week for a 1pm matchup tailgating starts at 6am with good times going all the way til kickoff. This is the week of the bike donation and we even got Santa confirmed to make a brief appearance despite his busy schedule. Please thank our sponsors this week Inimicus and 51/58 Poundin.

The food this week is from Ranucci's BBQ and Grill. www.ranuccis.com Please stop by his restaurant in Belmont and consider his restaurant for any of your catering needs. The menu at this time is still under construction so please check back later in the week for the full menu for this Sunday. The 'big rig' is showing up this week so lots of good food in store.

The Huddle has been fortunate to have generous sponsors every game to provide free food and non-alcoholic drinks to everyone that shows up. In return the people that partake leave a donation that, because of the sponsors, 100% goes towards a year end bike donation to Toys for Tots. We’re talking upwards of $20,000 and 600 bikes to date have been donated to the Marine Corps Reserve during this time.

Here's the usual info:

Where: We are located at the intersection of 3rd st. and Poplar. We are located in a large parking lot that borders 3rd, Poplar, and Church st. congregating at 3rd and poplar right beside the lower entrance to the lot. Look for the carolinahuddle.com banners, tents, and loud music. The lot is across 3rd street from Picasso's restaurant and bar.

What: Food, music, drinks (non-alcoholic) and friendly Panthers fans. If you drink alcohol you have to bring it yourself and provide your own cooler because its hard enough to keep our own drinks cold on hot days.

When: We’ll start at 6am this week. Maybe earlier. If you get there after 12:15 there's no guarantee any food will be left. Most of us are trying to get in the game as well so we can't stay back and cook for you, miss kickoff, if you get there late.

Who: Around 50 fans all somehow connected to this website.

How much: The parking lot is $25 to park there but you don’t have to park in the lot to tailgate with us. Many take the light rail for a few dollars and walk down or park a few blocks back for cheaper and just walk up.

When you show up and partake, please donate as much as you can to our cause. It’s a labor of love for us, but at the end of the day don’t discount what you saved by not bringing your grill, food, drinks, etc. and what it would cost you for a day of tailgating, shopping, and energy cooking. Remember 100% of your donation goes to charity. Hard to find many others that claim that nowadays.

Disclaimer: There will probably be loud music. The Huddle does not police adult behavior at tailgates so while kids have a blast at tailgates, we can’t be responsible for what they may see or hear during the time. Remember if you drink alcohol you’re responsible for bringing your own and keeping it cool.

Any other questions this is the thread to ask.

We have to get the Panthers back to dominating and this whole economy thing worked out. 50-60 bikes are great. But I remember a few yerars ago when we were able to give 3X that many.

These are tough economic times and it is still a testament to the Huddle Members to continue to support this great cause.

Because of the generosity of this group, 50-60 kids will wake up Christmas morning to a nice surprise.

Sorry Boo...if I paint my body blue you won't be able to see it underneath my #80 Falcons jersey anyway. Only thing that might be blue is my balls if things don't go well the night before. I'll be happy to display them if that is the case.

Just a heads up I'm going to talk poo to you the entire time.

If Bo is there, well then....its going to get ugly. Especially if Jello shots are involved again.

I will even let you team up on me with Madhatter and Blue Wig Chris (Alvarez) to make it even. :D

I don't think you realize what you are getting yourself into. You are going to bring out the Jersey in me.

    • You could say that-- but if we don't need a starting OT this year, why would you draft a flawed one that is not going to play? (We are coming from different underlying assumptions and perspectives--I see your argument and don't disagree with the premise) Your thinking is based on the assumption that an OT for the future is more important than immediate needs at other positions, or that we can meet other needs in later rounds even if we take the OT in round 1.  I do not think there is but 1 OT worthy of a first-round grade---they are mocked based on need and demand--if we do not have a need for a starter right now, a team at 18 may grab a T that is the 33rd best player--worth it if you have no starting T, but not if you have a starter.  So just because they are mocked around the middle of the first it does not mean that the players are good values--teams get desperate.  QBs are a great example.  Simpson may be worth it in round 1 for the Cardinals, but not the Jets, because they have Geno Smith.  Sure, they will need a QB by next year, but taking Simpson is a reach. I do not see our need, with 2 starters (Walker and Moton) and another possibly returning by the end of the season enough to justify ranking OT over positions like Safety, Will LB--I do not think we replaced A Shawn Robinson (We gonna put a NT out there?  Wharton (280lbs)?  So do we reach in round 1 for a player who may not play much or do we get a Will LB that can cover?  A deep free safety?  A quality center? A playmaking TE?  A DT to replace Robinson?  A wide receiver to balance the secondary?  Long term, if the right player was there, you would be right.  Short term, OT is a luxury at this point, in my view.
    • Put Huey P Newton on the helmet. With his AK.
    • We arent switching. Evero is 3-4 to the core. Given how 3-4 has been a noticeable characteristic of top defenses recently and we have drafted and signed players fir it  I dont know why anyone would think that's a good idea
