Gross might not be able to play Sunday

not worried.

with a vet like Gross they would be foolish to practice him before Friday w/ a tender ankle. Gross will play. Rivera said he wasn't really worried. Wharton is comparable at LT...we have seen that in the past.

worry about RT and if they decide to move Abraham on Bell.

what? abraham has an unbelievable track record of absolutely abusing wharton every time he goes up against him. If wharton was comparable to gross, wharton would be playing tackle right now instead of bell.

So there has been a noticeable difference at LT when Wharton has moved their for a Gross injury? I don't recall that....

Gross and Wharton protect the blindside....not worth getting weaker there to deal with the RT spot

as i recall yes, there was a substantial downgrade between wharton and gross.

either that or we have a probowl caliber tackle playing guard.

Panthers' injury report 4 ATL: LB Jason Phillips (calf), LB Kion Wilson (calf) out; OT Jordan Gross (ankle) questionable; everyone else prob

Ron Rivera said Gross ran on the side today and looked better. Veteran tackle hasn't practiced all week after spraining ankle at Tampa Bay.

Sat out again.

you think in 2009 when Wharton finished out that year there was a substantial downgrade?

Wharton is underrated. Gross is much better than people here give him credit for......but the drop off between Gross and Wharton IMO isn't significant.

Over a period of adjustment I'd agree. But for one game, there's a good chance at this being significant.

In 09 he improved as he got more games under his belt, but his first two as a LT were pretty bad.

Considring this could be his first game as a LT in a while, only a week of practise, and going agianst one of the best pass rushers in the game,

I could see this being a pontentially big problem.

well, I still think Gross plays. If not....I still be more worried about Bell against weaker rushers.

as i recall it yes, he was a substantial downgrade... not that he's bad... he's certainly serviceable. but he'll be rusty and bernadeau would end up at guard.

the left side of the line gets a substantial downgrade.

i particularly remember a couple of games where abraham absolutely embarrassed him. i think one of those games was his first at LT... so that counts for something.
