Smitty and Cam both at 3rd in NFC Pro Bowl voting

Stupid Post of The Week Nominee.
why is that stupid?

because it doesn't agree with you and it doesn't buy into the unwarranted hype that a pro-bowl designation has now?

pro bowl is a joke. fans being allowed to vote as many times as they can makes it such.

what makes it even more of a joke is how players from hyped teams with large fan bases will get voted in above players that are more talented and have had better years. it's all about the hype and very little to do with the talent or production.

then you have a meaningless game that is becoming less and less interesting to watch every year. people don't want to play in it. that's why you have people dropping out every year. then you take out those players who are disqualified because their teams got into the superbowl and it becomes even more watered down.

also, it puts players at unnecessary risk for injury in a very boring game that ultimately doesn't matter.

then you have the problems that having "pro-bowl" players makes for your team.

I always hated Pro Bowl week. It wasn’t so much the week before the game that I dreaded, but the week after the Pro Bowl, when players returned to the mainland with lots of new thoughts, ideas, opinions and demands that were fresh in their minds from their trip to the islands.

There is no other gathering on the calendar of NFL mega-talents like there is in Hawaii the first week of February. Because of that, there are also plenty of agents, advisers, enablers and hangers-on. The “whisper crews” are out in full force, whispering in players’ ears about how their team is not treating them right, how they are underpaid, how their agent should be fired based on his lack of aggressiveness in pursuing a better contract, better treatment, etc.

The ringleaders of the whisper crews at the Pro Bowl are usually agents, using the trip as a productive way to spend time amidst the cream of the crop of NFL stars, many poised to cash in significantly in the coming weeks, months or years.

Drew Rosenhaus is always an omnipresent sight during Pro Bowl week, whether at the players’ hotel, at official events, in the lobby, at the pool, in their rooms, wherever. Drew finds a way to visit with players who may be potential targets for future representation, telling them that he is the one who can make them wealthy, be there for their every need and make their career aspirations come true. Drew usually has plenty of clients in the game who echo his message in hopes of converting the unenlightened about his prowess, among them motor mouths such as Chad Johnson, Clinton Portis and Terrell Owens.

more the above was written by andrew brandt who was GM for the packers and has a ton of industry insight dealing with the business side of the NFL.

you think all of that stuff is worth having your favorite players from your team get in there? fine. what is the benefit from it other than just a little ego stroke?

It's stupid because of people like you who blatantly try to take the honor of the award away from players on our team because you in your hipster mindset decided to yourself that it's "uncool" to like the Pro Bowl.

Somewhere along the line a player you liked didn't make it, so instead of just shrugging it off you looked to discredit the whole notion and manufactured stupid reasons like the ones listed in your previous posts.

Don't vote for them because they wantz moh moneyz? So what? If they don't have the mental stability to push those thoughts out of their minds when they return from Hawaii then they likely aren't a player we want on this team anyways. As for what it does off the field, it gives more national exposure to our players which in turn gives more national exposure to our team.

There isn't a single analysts picking Chris Gamble to go to the Pro Bowl this year, but you know what happens if he does? They are forced to acknowledge that he is a good player, which is beneficial to our team from a PR standpoint, and we get the plus of not having to listen to their stupid negative and typically ill-informed opinions on that segment of our team throughout the draft process, but I digress.

Let's not even get into all the other little pluses it brings. You ever seen a HoF resume' without a count of Pro Bowl appearances? Smitty getting in this year boosts his chances by that much more. Cam getting in as a rookie not only gives us the aforementioned national exposure, but also sets him up with a better resume' long term.

Les we forget the game is that much more fun for us as fans who do enjoy the game when we get to see our own players play one last time before the long, dreaded offseason. Trying to steal the enjoyment and squash the excitement of the whole processfor the rest of us because you're "cool" and do not like the Pro Bowl doesn't make you any superior to the rest of us.

Nobody cares that you don't like it. Name dropping the fact that you do at every opportunity is nothing more than a nuisance, it isn't going to make the rest of us dislike the game.
