That's what I thought..why would it be surprising to have a player who can run and throw replace a player who can run and throw? Don't get me wrong, I love mixing it up and being unpredictable, but it's not like the dynamic is being changed a whole lot, unless Cam can do a Megatron impression at WR.

When your QB is lined at WR and a WR/PR at QB it can make defenses go huh? It's just a different look utilizing said talents by said players. It does in fact change the dynamic.

I don't agree with that once you consider the dynamics in the difference of talent we are exchanging it with. If AE has the capability to run and pass back there it's still not to the aptitude of Cam's ability.

The traditional wildcat with Deangelo would be a much better option than AE since the defense is thinking run all the way. A pass in that situation could be devastating. However, with AE the defense is still in the same position to defend both the pass and the run, but with a lot less talent than Cam. So yeah, stupid formation is stupid.

But with as little tape on that formation, how can you be sure the defense is going to be ready for the pass as opposed to the run, that why they line up Deangelo and armanti back there. The thing is, they can mix it up and line deangelo behind center with armanti as the RB. There are many things you can do, no reason not to do any wildcat without Armanti in the formation at some capacity.

Until teams know it's going to be Armanti back there 100% of the time we use that formation then more people will be in one on one coverage. Sure you see this as a downside but i'm sure the coaches see the possibilities this could provide. You can't put much past them when they pull out the Annexation of Puerto Rico now can you.

How far do you think Steve gets on the pass from Armanti if Cam had thrown the ball. Steve would've been blanketed and without a broken tackle in the backfield he wouldn't go very far. Not like I want to see the 10 times a game but 3-4, if the offense is struggling to get first downs like they were, anything could help.

If the offense is on a roll and on pace to score enough to win, then I absolutely agree with you.

floppin shoulda just said he missed the play cuz he had to save a kitten from a burning tree on an island in the middle of a lake filled with alligators that he had to swim through naked because he was in the middle of an orgy when it all went down

psc's internet rule of surviving internets: never give out personal information like your significant other is selfish and won't let you watch the football game on a forum about football

ps. if you think your g/f "loves the dick" but is still a bitch, then she's probably a ***** and is fuging someone who gets it done 10x over you

    • I think his stats will depend on the development of the rookies and sophomore receivers, which isn't totally under is control. The eye test is a different story. Has to consistently look the part before you decide to pay him Purdy money.
    • Interestingly I think we have kind of of gone through this as an organization. Richardson implemented an FO driven tank. Bad roster, no cash spent, coach uninterested. It may have been for different reasons but I think the results were the same. A team that wasn't going to win many if any games. We ended up with the #1 pick. Cam Newton came in and changed the franchise. It worked, but Cam himself pointed to the losing culture in the locker room needing to be changed. It probably took about 2-3 years for that to happen. Tank worked pretty damn well for us. Cam is one of one. Not another like him, everyone can't deliver on his draft status AND change a culture basically on his own.  So as an exercise here are the last 30 #1 picks. If you tanked and got to pick #1 how many of these guys do you think were worth it? Not just good players, but franchise changers. Guys who will take your culture and shift it so the tank was actually worth it. I would say maybe 9 or 10 guys would be worth a tank, pending the last 5 picks?    2025: Cam Ward (Miami (FL)) - Tennessee Titans 2024: Caleb Williams (USC) – Chicago Bears 2023: Bryce Young (Alabama) – Carolina Panthers 2022: Travon Walker (Georgia) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2021: Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2020: Joe Burrow (LSU) – Cincinnati Bengals 2019: Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) – Arizona Cardinals 2018: Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) – Cleveland Browns 2017: Myles Garrett (Texas A&M) – Cleveland Browns 2016: Jared Goff (California) – Los Angeles Rams 2015: Jameis Winston (Florida State) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2014: Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina) – Houston Texans 2013: Eric Fisher (Central Michigan) – Kansas City Chiefs 2012: Andrew Luck (Stanford) – Indianapolis Colts 2011: Cam Newton (Auburn) – Carolina Panthers 2010: Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) – St. Louis Rams 2009: Matthew Stafford (Georgia) – Detroit Lions 2008: Jake Long (Michigan) – Miami Dolphins 2007: JaMarcus Russell (LSU) – Oakland Raiders 2006: Mario Williams (North Carolina State) – Houston Texans 2005: Alex Smith (Utah) – San Francisco 49ers 2004: Eli Manning (Mississippi) – San Diego Chargers 2003: Carson Palmer (USC) – Cincinnati Bengals 2002: David Carr (Fresno State) – Houston Texans 2001: Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) – Atlanta Falcons 2000: Courtney Brown (Penn State) – Cleveland Browns 1999: Tim Couch (Kentucky) – Cleveland Browns 1998: Peyton Manning (Tennessee) – Indianapolis Colts 1997: Orlando Pace (Ohio State) – St. Louis Rams 1996: Keyshawn Johnson (USC) – New York Jets 1995: Ki-Jana Carter (Penn State) – Cincinnati Bengals
