Why do some of you think that Ron Edwards...

will be a good player for the Carolina Panthers?

I am very very confused by everyone thinking that the DT position problem was fixed when we brought him in. Not to mention that it will be better next year with him back, as he will only be 33 years old at seasons start???

Maybe someone can help me out on this one.

A lot of people that roll their eyes at the Ron Edwards signing are the same fans that would have cut/traded Beason, Smitty, Deangelo, JStew, Gross, CJ, Hardy, Gamble, dildos. The fact of the matter is that he is a veteran presence that is an upgrade at the position, unless they would rather stick with Fua.

The team also doesn't need a superstar at DT. They need a big guy that can eat up space and take on the double teams in order to free up the ends and UT (most likely McClain or Neblett imo). The man isn't a Pro Bowler imo, but having ZERO penalties in 2009 caught my eye, especially after this penalty-infested season .

Though with the way Jason Shirley has been playing, I wouldn't be surprised if Edwards or Fua was cut.

With all the good personnel additions made pre-season and on the fly this year, it's kind of funny that one of the thought out and deliberate moves done for a specific reason would prompt folks to question it.

Why do I think Ron Edwards would be a good player for the Carolina Panthers? Cause Rivera decided it would provide a presence in the middle to help out with the unknown rookies that were going to see the field this year. Just unfortunate dumb luck that he gets injured. He was advertised as a solid, reliable player who stayed off the injury reports. I'm thinking the lockout had something to do with it.

Should we be worried that he's going to suck? I ain't gonna sweat that......

Not worried that he is going to suck, in fact not worried about him at all. What I was saying is that I hear his name thrown around when talking about defensive injuries. Also when talking about getting him back next season.

I just hope that MH isn't on this same bandwagon.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
