Talent-For-The Money

CBs Claiborne or Kirkpatrick are immediate impact players. I would be completely happy with Blackmon, Floyd, or Jeffrey as any one of these guys would be an immediate upgrade to what we have and another Deep Threat for Cam. Don't know about Coples, but Ingram would be an immediate upgrade. Finally, a 'Top 2' OL draft pick would go a long way to protect our new 'Franchise' QB and help the running game (like Otah did when [rarely] healthy).

OSU's safety looked damn good last night, no idea where he's ranked.

You don't draft OG in the top 10 and I don't see it as a need. Bell will only get better. Going from UDFA to starter in a month is tough.

I like our DE rotation of Hardy, Keiser and Applewhite.

DT we get Edwards and Fua back to clog the middle and McClain to penetrate and get after the passer. Shirley, Kearse and Neblett all played well. I'm actually ok with our DT's.

CB- I love Captain, but as the Cb 2 he's in over his head and would rather see him at the nickel or dime spot. He's VERY valuable to ST's as a great gunner and tackler.

FS- Martin struggled outside of a few nice plays. I'm tired of converting guys and want to draft a true FS and let Godfrey bash heads at SS.

WLB- I'm as big a fan of TD as there is, but he can't be relied upon. I don't know how Senn would work full time as the starter, but there are several nice options in the draft.

WR isn't a need IMO, but Blackmon is my dream pick, he's the only guy I would take at 8-9, but he won't be there. We do need another burner to replace Smith at some point.

I DVR'ed a couple bowl games to watch guys, I'll form more of an opinion on them after I watch.

Luck, DeCastro and others were impressive last night, save the "kicker." Blackmon was ridiculous, Martin was good and there were some others that impressed.

Plus it was a great game...except for Stanford's HC and K.

Isn't Mark Barron the 'Bama FS?

I keep hearing people saying we are fine at DE.In a 4-3 you must get and keep pressure on the qb and I just do not see it with this line. Not arguing we need a talent upgrade at saftey and cb but when you give a qb so much time it will make any secondary look bad.I just hope we can get a player that can have an imediate impact.

With the exception OT this does look to be a great selection for our needs at the 9th spot.

I still don't feel that good about our DT rotation and I feel we can get better there. I think Fua and Mclain at best can become good rotation players. I don't feel that they can lock the line down for the next upcoming years. What hurt so much is the chance to see Ron Edwards play. He will be 33 or 34 and coming off a torn tricep injury which is hard to prevent from re injury ask Aaron Smith DE of the Steelers.

We need an upgrade at CB and Free safety. I think we fill these holes at these positions in free agency or the draft. I think Rivera will look to bring in somebody like Steve Gregory from San Diego to play free safety for him. This year Draft is loaded at CB and you can find a ver good one in the 1st 2nd or 3rd round this year.

So I believe if they draft was today I think the Panthers may trade back and stock up on picks.

DE's don't have to generate pressure just because they play in a 4-3, aggressive blitz schemes are an example. If you're playing a Cover 2, for example, then you're relying almost completely on your front four to generate pressure.

Hardy did a good job getting pressure and moving QB's, but not getting the sacks. Keiser was also effective when he played.

If you held a gun to my head right now and made me make a pick without trades or unforeseen slips like Blackmon or Claiborne, then I take Fitzpatrick and cut AE. Fitz can return punts plus is a very good CB who I think would play early and start at some point. I love his combination of size, speed and physicality.

I'd look at FS or OLB in the second. Depth the rest of the way.
