The Jets have announced OC Brian Schottenheimer has decided to part ways with the team. #Jets #NFL32

There was literally no way Jets could have brought Schottenheimer back as OC. Locker room would have revolted right along with the fanbase.

Pretty big. He was a head coaching candidate a few years ago. Don't think hes been called this year.

not sure if he held back Sanchez or if Sanchez held him back

would definitely stay away from hiring this guy.

oh, we wont get him, i dont see Chud leaving. i see Schottenheimer likely coaching with his dad if he's hired in Tampa (and i think that's who Tampa likely should hire).

I meant as another NFL team. I know he won't be coming here lol(thankfully)

hahaha, oh, he will find a job. he's not a great coordinator, but i dont think he's awful, i really cant tell because the question is, was Schottenheimer held down by Ryan and Sanchez? he clearly isnt going here, i think he finds a coordinating job, dont see him being a head coach unless a QB does really well under him as an offensive coordinator.

    • A team should always be putting at least one or two draft picks in at tackle and guard each season. Those guys just don't last nearly long enough and those that do get very, very expensive. In our situation, we need a little more time to see what the Icky injury works itself out to. Njiman performed really well out there and if this injury lingers into the next season, then he might do well enough there to hold the line for the team. Or we could draft early if there is a stud LOT in the draft when our spot comes along.  Honestly, we may be looking at replacing both LT and RT this season at this point. Moton is getting long in the tooth and while he deserves a shot to go for a playoff run with this team, I don't know whether we will really see him come back next season yet. It's still so darned early in all of this to say.
    • Because we had a ton of things go our way this year and made the playoffs with a -70 point differential.  This year was the outlier.  Regression to the mean is unavoidable.  So the team will have to significantly improve to beat 8 wins next year.
    • One thing I noticed in this game (and I say this as the biggest of Bryce Young haters) is that Bryce did do a solid job of throwing into voids in this game, and leading receivers on crossers.  There were a few times where I was thinking "where the hell is he throwing it" only for a receiver to appear out of nowhere and catch it in stride.  Mike McDaniel might be a guy that can squeeze a little bit of production out of the otherwise ghastly Bryce Young. His offenses heavily feature that style of passing game.  I've heard Idzik is drawing interest from other teams.  If so, bringing McDaniel in at OC would be a stellar move.  I know it'll never happen, but fun to think about.
