Tressel gets 2nd interview with Colts

I pointed out several months ago that if the Colts went 0-13, that Jimmy (Irsay) would pull the pull the switch. (Firing Caldwell and giving the team over to Tressel.)

3 things happened that prevented this. 1) The players gave Jim Caldwell a vote of confidence. Specifally, Reggie Wayne. 2) Peyton Manning donned the headset and helped with play calling. (Many fell that Peyton actually was called the last 3 games and not Jim Caldwell. 3) History. The Colts had been 0-13 before. The old man made a coaching change and the Colts won their last 3 games, but lost the overall #1 draft pic.

My biggest concern with hiring Jim Tressel, if they do. That he can translate into a pro game. History is not on his side. Saban, Holtz, Devine, Kush, The coach from Oklahoma that took over the Cowboys after Jimmy Johnson left. (Yes he won a Super Bowl, but with Jimmy's team.) Patino, etc. College coaches just don't make good pro coaches. IMO

The Harbaughs maybe the exception. Though Jim Harbaugh always had a good understanding of the pro game.

The Colts continue to clean "house". Last Wednesday they fired 3 assistant coaches, including Frank Reich.

    • Let's pause a sec and rewind. The hype for Bryce Young before we drafted him was beyond anything I've seen in a long time. If you're trying to tell me now after all the hoopla about his ability to make those around him better and the comparisons to hall of fame players across different sports leagues that him taking the next step this year fully hinges on Adam Thielen then we're probably already doomed. Thielen is not going to keep any defenses up at night. He has good hands and very low YAC. We have 4 young WR's ahead of him with potential that need crucial development and we certainly need to find out what we have in them sooner rather than later because regardless of what transpires this season the QB room should undoubtedly be getting a hard reset. Those reps need to go to the young WR's regardless. Bryce needs to step up and take ownership of the relationship between himself and his young receivers. That's why we drafted him.
    • #Raiders WR wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has requested a trade, per a league source. NFL Network first to report   https://x.com/josinaanderson/status/1960060238213546417?s=46
