These sorts of sites of expensive to run. Some of these places store thousands of terabytes of information.

I think these sorts of sites can absolutely be stopped, but that will just push people back to p2p sharing. That truly cannot be stopped.

doesn't appear to me thepiratebay can be shut down... US has no jurisdiction unless they force ISPs to block the link, which I'm sure they'll find a way around. Swedish law would have to pass a lot of random laws to force anything relevant to TPB's methods..
