First of all just because I'm bored and there's always a possibility of a trade in the first round come draft day. That is trading back of course, which most of the time hurney as had success at doing.

Round 1

*Seattle Seahawks trade 1st RD pick #13 and 3rd RD pick #76 for Carolina's 1st RD pick #8

With the 12th pick in the 2012 draft, Carolina selects..

Jonathan Martin, OL - Stanford: The Seahawks jump up the board with the willing Panthers to select their future QB Ryan Tannehill before KC could have an opportunity. Gaining a 3rd rounder, Carolina know becomes flexible and picks up a sure fire franchise offensive linemen in Martin.

Round 2

With the 40th pick in the 2012 draft, Carolina selects....

Chase Minnifield, CB - Virginia: Janoris Jenkins is rising up draft boards so I'm not sure he will make it to us, that's why I have the Panthers picking up Chase Minnifield, who is a solid corner that is often avoided due to his ability to get to the ball. Also has return ability.

Round 3

With the 76th pick in the 2012 draft, Carolina Selects....

George Iloka, S - Boise St: Iloka has been has been a great player for Boise St for a while now and is getting high praise at the senior bowl thus far. The 3rd round pick allows us to pick up one of the best safeties in the draft.

Round 4

With the 104th pick in the 2012 draft, Carolina selects....

Chandler Jones, DE - Syracuse: Jones has become an interesting player that I discovered on this board. He's moving up peoples big boards so maybe he wont be around in the 4th in April, but for now this looks like a great value pick in the 4th round.

Round 5

With the 144th pick in the 2012 draft, Carolina selects....

Chris Rainey, RB/KR - Florida: Rivera made it clear he wants a scat back, and someone that can get involved in our offense in many different ways.

Round 6

With the 184th pick in the 2012 draft, Carolina selects....

Mychal Kendricks, OLB - CAL: Carolina needs to draft a LB as a priority, someone that can be a reliable back up and also provide to special teams. Kendricks notched Kendricks has 96 tackles with 13 tackles for a loss, three sacks, two passes broken up and two interceptions.

Round 7

With the 216th pick in the 2012 draft, Carolina selects....

Cody Johnson, FB - Texas: Carolina started the year with Felton, and then soon brought Brockel in the lineup when Felton was relieved of his duties. Outside of the huge play against the Texans, brockel was kind of just a stop gap. I don't feel like we're been able to successfully replace Hoover yet.

Johnson did a quality job of lead blocking this season. He also had 48 rushes for 200 yards and six touchdowns.

Predicting trades are hard but it's not like they are rare in the draft. The value of the trade seems about right.

granted they're not impossible, but the problem with this board is like whenever the draft is coming up 75% of the fuging posters on here think there's never any value where we're picking but at the same time there's this line of teams ringing Marty's phone off the hook for that coveted pick the panthers are supposed to be selecting at (again, where there's supposedly no value)

Martin could come in and start immediately at RG, and then cover for Otah if he goes down again, and replace Otah for good if he goes down again.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but just because the available pool may not have value for us at 8/9 doesn't mean they don't have value for other teams.

It all depends on needs and how the picks fall out. I certainly agree that trades are hard to pull off and should never be counted on, but for speculation purposes, what the hell.

Not a bad draft, I'd prefer Brockers over Martin though. And the trade is good value for Seattle. Just giving up a 3rd round pick to move up 5 spots into #8 (or 4 to #9) is slightly in the Seahawks favor, according to the value chart (#8 is worth 1400, #13 is 1150, #77 is 205). If we end up with #9 and they do that trade it'd be about even (#9 is worth 1350). Of course, that value chart isn't set in stone, just a rough estimate. They could easily overpay based on their desire to ensure they get who they want.

If the Panther's do want to trade back, the key to that is really Ryan Tannehill. (He's already a borderline first round pick, very good prospect with speed, size and arm strength.) He gets a half round bump for being a QB with good numbers, do they move him up enough to be considered in the top 10... That's if Washington doesn't grab him with their pick, which I expect them to do if his stock moves that much.

      They don’t watch film. They don’t know what they are looking at if they do. Half of this MF pedestrian 561 yards came off wheel routes out of the backfield.

      We have a great, Id say even perfect example of drafting OT on a team with Walker....plus Ill just toss in the solid respected vet Motown too.   Green Bay used a 1st rounder to draft Jordan Morgan with the plan he's the LT. Short this story- Walker beat him badly, so bad they switched positions to OG cause using that 1st is too pricey to sit. That was in 2024, come 2025 in steps a new fresh hope for LT 2nd rounder Anthony Belton..... Another 1st TKO by Walker and the same "ooo my god try him at OG to save face"... Walker clear winner both times.  I think even if the Panthers had first pick of OT, that guy is not unseating Walker or Motown.  Now to talk out of both sides, Id still say using the 1st on OT is a wise move.......but if you believe panthers are in win-now mode and worry about 2027 in 2027 and factor in Walker beating any and all young pups..... the thing is, if this goes well enough...... Walker will want to re-sign here and he's still young for a LT...plus my god LT are the hardest spot to fill. Then Ickey makes a full recovery(just go along for now)...now you have 32 Motown, Icky back on a cheaper RT deal, and a happy LT Walker.  Just making a case and filling in some history, now I still want to draft OT, just maybe not as hot to use the 1st with landing Walker..... I mean isnt using the 4th or one of the 5th better and smarter to develop a OT rather than 1st where you need to score TDs or stop them? But Im with you tho....AND I understand what I feel the panthers will do.

      I hope we're not going all in this year. We couldn't outright win our own division with a losing record. We had 2 anomalous wins. Typically you aren't going to win scoring 13 and have your opponent have an absolute train wreck offense.  Also, a team scoring 16 on 6 trips to the red zone is not normal either. I'm not trying to be a pessimist. We're not there. Bryce isn't there. Most of the year our offense legitimately struggled and the missing piece wasn't a TE. Keep building through the draft and reasonable FA. When we have a team that's on the edge of being able to make a legitimate SB run, then go all in. Otherwise, going all in right now feels like another Bryce situation. Sell out and pray. That's not how consistent winners are built.
