the nfl on tv was alot different in the 80's. the nfc was on cbs, while the afc was on nbc. you would turn on the nfl today at 1pm and hear brent musburger say.."you are looking live at veteran's stadium, as the eagle's take on the redskins". no nfl suday ticket, so if you didn't want to watch that game, you could switch to watch the steelers vs oilers on nbc. and monday night football. it was always like the cowboys vs chiefs. in the late 80's early 90's in the intro they would have clips of an interview with one of the player's, example troy aikmen. they would always say "i think we have a team that can go all the way this year". frank gifford and dan deirdorf called the games then. memory lane.

yeah, and if you didn't stay up you had to read the paper the next AM to find out who won.

people would get so fugin' pissed at what game they were showing, that stations had to take a phone poll and the game with the most votes was the one they would show and tell people that highest vote total won it to keep them from getting pissed.

If you wanted highlights you had to watch George Michaels Sports machine at 11:30 pm ot see extended highlights. but in that 30 minutes it was only half football and the other half the other sports. So each game got like 30 seconds of highlights. And you had to stay up late to get that.

And we had to bet on games via the newspaper cuz that was the only method available for the lines.

And the bars had .10 wings and $1 drafts for MNF.

    • The team wore down and shots stopped falling.  Ball, Miller and Kon have to play well.  At least 2 of the 3.  2/16…0/6. That ain’t gonna cut it.     If Bridges and White are the only ones hitting from 3, it’s not gonna go well.  The 3’s make Moose and Kalk work.  No 3’s it gets too crowded for them with all the bodies crashing the boards.    (Kalk needs to add strength, something awful tho.)
    • Was at the game and NYCFC honestly outplayed CLT the whole way.  Khalina and Zaha carried the team.  Zaha's wife on IG making it sound like he's gone come July. They're going to have to pay him or find a big time replacement because the team looks like pretty lost without him.
    • No one's saying LaMelo has no blame we're responding to you acting like he's the reason they lost. The scapegoating and blaming the teams woes on his personality is where it's like Cam Newton all over again. It was a failure on multiple fronts and primarily Lee's. Dude said ON AIR pregame that they had to protect the paint and if that was his gameplan going in he couldn't have botched it more. As the commentators said Ball's a rhythm guy and Orlando was preventing him for getting any kind of flow going. I'm a normie watching on TV and said they needed to bait them into fouling to combat that. They didn't even try until the 2nd half when it was too late. I think it's fair to expect the star to overcome whatever but LaMelo was not the problem in that game and he's not what is holding the team back. He's the only reason they're flirting with being a great team. I kinda put the center play on Lee too. Moose is great until he's up against a big who can body him. We've always known that and that's what Kalkbrenner is for. I don't know if it would have changed much but Kalkbrenner should have had more minutes than him.  And moving forward with the center position, I just think it's the time to trade Diabate while his stock's high and that's not an indictment of his game. He's like an evolved combination of Biyombo and PJ. He's a great rim protector and the strength issue is just what you're going to have to deal with if you want that. But Kalkbrenner is perfectly capable of protecting the rim and we gotta get away from the undersized centers or it'll always be a problem for us.
