John Abraham = Al Wallace can we make it happen?

Hey, I am a Gamecock fan, and even I have to think he has gone off the deep end. Where it comes to his own self worth anyway.

A 34 year old 12 year vet is not going to get that kind of money. Players make their money with their second contract. After showing their value during the first one. He is an oft injured, situational player, wanting All-Pro money.

If he would take part time money, I would give it a shot. Or load it with incentives and see if he can play at a high enough level to achieve them.

Then again, if he were to come here, he would only take reps away from the kids who actually need them. There is some young talent on the line. We have to see what they can do with a year of experience, a full off-season, and most importantly, more coaching.

If we do add any players to the line they will be draft picks, or cheap FA pickups. I know it sucks. But hey, we are moving in the right direction. And our goal (Improve the team.) is still on target. Be patient grasshoppers.

Giddy in Pantherland. And GOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, no. I guess I don't want him after all.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. And GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He won't see 12 mil a year no matter how much he wants it.

We don't want him for more then 3.5 -4 mil so you can have him if you pay that. Like I said he is a back-up on this team.

Backup to who?

I'll give you Charles Johnson, but Abe had 9.5 sacks last year while getting doubled all the time.

Back up to our younger players who stay healthy a full season. I would be awesome to have Abraham on our team but he wound be in a rotation and not be a starter. He is your best DE on the team so I understand why you guys would pay more and also understand why you will not pay 12mill cause he is not worth it.

1. Even at his age and with his injuries he's a much better DE than Hardy. He would be the starter.

2. He's not going to be on this team regardless so it doesn't really matter.

No he wouldn't. I know PfF got everybody down on Hardy but he was a 1st year starter, with no offseason, learning a new system, and no TC (due to injuries). Cut the kid some slack. He did have 50 tackles and 11 pass def.

Abe doesn't start for us if he comes here.

    • Man, I havent posted in a while, happy to see the forum is alive and well!  Really excited about this upcoming season, and this draft class!  Lee Hunter will be an instant fan favorite, i might go ahead and purchase his jersey.  Will be interesting to see what we do at Receiver, a lot of talent and a lot of bodies, does XL get traded, or do they give him a shot this season to see what he has?
    • Goings was good too.
    • I appreciate TMo, he has been a rock. Plug and play, set and forget. But there are stories that they ice his knees or knee in game when he goes to the sidelines. If it is that bad that is pretty rough and it probably won’t get better with age and more wear.     You want to pay him, and commit that money, I shouldn’t object. But let’s at least roll him over a year at a time.  He isn’t a particularly good long term gamble.
