Resign: Jason Phillips OLB, the Geoff's OL, Derek Anderson QB.

FA's: Wesley Woodyard OLB, Antonio Garay DT.

Christmas in April

1. Dre Kirkpatrick CB, Alabama

2. Andre Branch DE, Clemson

4. Winston Guy Jr. FS, Kentucky

5. Russell Wilson QB, Wisconsin

5. Hebron Fangupo DT, BYU

6. Marquise Maze WR/KR, Alabama

7. A kicker i don't know.

With our first two picks we get arguably two top three guys at their Positions. Couple reasons i put Dre above JJ, Gilmore, or whoever you like.

He is a winner. Alabama's defense stonewalled LSU and the guys on that defense Chapman, Dre, Barron and Upshaw are being underrated. Second pick is a DE we can develop. He has the physical skills he needs coaching.

Guy Jr is a big 215lb safety who tackles well and plays the run. Goodbye Martin. A lot of folks like Wilson on here and i do too. But i do not think he will last to where people are projecting him. Loni Fangupo got a late start in football but is huge and powerful. 36 reps and 320 some odd pounds. Fang would put Fua on notice. Like Branch he will need some grooming but could be young Kemoatu. Marquise is another winner from the Alabama squad. Leading receiver, go to guy, leader who also returned punts and kicks. In other words a selfless football player who simply makes the plays when they need to be made. AE and Pilares do not be surprised if Mr. Maze takes your job.

Andre Branch's straightline speed makes him ideal for the right side in a Jim Johnson style defense. People that have said Dre Kirkpatrick would be better in a zone forget that the JJ 4-3 relies on the zone blitz. Branch has shown me more than Jones. Branch looked like a Eagles DE when he breaks hard inside and attacks the C-Gap. This shows smarts and quickness. Jones needs to work on his pad level more. Not a natural bender, needs to work on leverage cause it seems he is always the higher man when i watch him. Sorry he plays to upright it worked in college cause of his strength and length. Also it goes back to my WINNER strategy. The Orangemen had a cupcake schedule. Clemson on other hand played a murderers row of Auburn, SC, plus the much tougher, better than Big Least ACC.

Don't like Wilson in the 5th considering we have much bigger needs.

Yeah, a backup that can run our offense who is not 30plus is not a big need. But it is a need. Derek Anderson could play but he is not a scrambler. Wilson would allow us not to change our scheme, god forbid Super Cam gets a hold of some Kryptonite. Jimmy is DONE. Cut bait. We are gonna need a guy to develop. Also in the long term if we can acclimate Wilson to our offense and he performs well in preseason and spot duty his trade value could increase.

Why does Anderson need to scramble? That's just an added bonus for Cam. Anderson or an undrafted FA will do just fine. I am not sure why we need to develop Wilson, it's not like Cam is old.

Just don't see the value in selecting a QB in the 5th round, regardless of who it is.

Undrafted FA? Sorry not to keen on that type of project. If it makes you feel better move Hebron up and with the second 5th maybe we can find a developmental TE. Cause i love me some Shockey but unless he is cheap i would rather see what we have in Barnridge.

QUESTIONS TO PONDER....

How great would Kirkpatrick have been without a supporting cast that features about 7-9 future NFL players, including Barron and Upshaw?

How well have DEs from Clemson performed in the NFL?

Who is I dont know? Nevermind, I am sure he would be an upgrade at K.

    • It's your right to refer to it as vague, but it still flouts the theory of "zero evidence" that Tepper is changing. Here's another: "Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales and general manager Dan Morgan are reportedly being given a larger leadership role within the organization. Panthers owner David Tepper 'has taken a more hands-off approach of late,' according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. 'He's trying to trust Canales and GM Dan Morgan to get it right, knowing that the roster requires patience in its current state,' Fowler wrote. 'We shall see if he holds to that.'" https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10146782-report-panthers-david-tepper-has-taken-a-more-hands-off-approach-to-team   ""David Tepper just wants to win and he's gonna supply everything that we need to win.. Things are changing around here and things are looking really positive" ~ Dan Morgan  https://x.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1917639137550627107?t=6vgo8yXTO6eD0Gb55hyzNg&s=19   From about 2:15-6:35, Julian Council, Locked on Panthers, gives his take on whether Tepper seems to be changing (and specifically referenced the war room in his analysis):    Dean Jones of Cat Crave on David Tepper in the war room. "He was an innocent bystander throughout a hugely important decision, placing full trust in Morgan and Tilis to make the right call." Jones also quoted Pat McAfee: "What I noticed though, at one point, they looked at (David) Tepper to get an answer, Tepper didn’t say sh*t. All anybody has said about Tepper is that he’s hands-on, hands-on, hands-on. Too handsy, too involved. He’s not letting the football people do their thing. We just watched in the biggest moment for their franchise, a top ten pick, he just sat there and let everybody do their jobs. I think if you’re a Panthers fan, you love everything you saw there." https://catcrave.com/silence-from-david-tepper-becomes-panthers-loudest-victory Granted, you're not getting a major headline here, but that's not going to happen anyway. Fowler isn't exactly a nobody, everybody knows McAfee, and you also have some locals that follow the team (including Dean Jones). Of course you have a right to believe that Tepper hasn't really changed, but to say there is no evidence that he just may be changing is not really true. It's just not. Hate the guy, but the way that he has handled this current regime is different than he handled previous teams, and his silence in the war room and publicly in general is different than years back.
    • Ehhh im not mad either way I don't think hes garbage but he was and is overpaid.... but he was a skating turnover machine.
    • My interpretation of his comments was somewhat different. And I took issue with his contract the day he signed. But it's all history now and doesn't matter in the big picture.
