Panthers' Cap Moves

I'm trying to compile all of the cap rooms/pre-free agency moves into one thread, because everything is spread out thus far.

Hearing #Panthers OL Jordan Gross also might have reworked his deal to help with salary cap.

The Panthers chose not to exercise an $8 million option bonus that was due this week. The bonus was put in as a safeguard when Davis signed a new contract last summer. He suffered his third injury early last season.

Davis’ cap figure for 2012 is now a comfortable $2.1 million. In addition to not getting the bonus, Davis took a cut in base salary from $2.25 million to $700,000 for this season.

But Davis can recoup some of the money later in the contract that runs through 2015. He has a $500,000 option bonus in 2013, and a $2.5 million second option in 2014. His new base salaries rise steadily each season. If he’s still with the team in 2015, his base salary will be $7.25 million.

    • Revis and Gilmore, along with Ramsey are the only two guys I can think of that really impacted games. However, what did those guys always have in front of them? A great front 7.  Without a good front seven, any corner is going to have issues. Without a good front 7, you will still lose games, no matter if you have the best corner of all time.

    • Yea I wouldn't wager on that. But as far as Hunter goes...that Colorado game matched the two up about 5 times. McMillian caught 3 of the 5, all for short gains with one being a TD. But speaking of Travis Hunter, when asked who was the toughest WR he had to cover, he responded TMac. Jus Saying
