Where Will The Pressure On The Qb Come From?

Don't give up on Fua and McClain. They looked like rookies last year, but they didn't have an offseason, had an abbreviated training camp, and had vets around them who were also learning a new system. They will play much better this year.

Yeah, I expect at least one of them to take a major step forward this season. They were kind of dealt a bad hand last season.

As for Garay, he had a really great season his last year with Rivera in San Diego. I just wonder if he really has a position in the Jimmy Johnson-esque Eagles attack we are running. A lot of guys talk about how it takes 1-2 years to convert from a 3-4 to a 4-3.

Johnson will get about 10 sacks, I believe Hardy will get better and could have a breakout year where he might get close to ten sacks. I could see Keiser getting about 5 sacks, if he ends up being the starter over hardy then he could possibly get 8-11 sacks. I think our rookie DTs will get better with a full off-season, McClain could get a decent amount of pressure and probably a few sacks. I think our linebackers could also get some pressure on the QB. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the defense Mcdermont uses involves linebackers getting pressure on the QB and if Davis can stay healthy and Beason comes back 100% our defense could look very different from last year. I believe one full off season will really help our players fully learn how our defense works.

By the way has Applewhite signed with another team yet? I love the guy and would hate to see him leave. I believe hes a special player who can make the big plays when needed.

Its gonna be a long year without an upgrade at safety. Really wish we could find a vet. Landry was never going to be the answer with his 60" biceps and torn achilles. God I miss Minter. . sigh.

And if Coples is lazy then Im sure the staff will do their best to sniff it out. Then again, maybe Coples just needs a good kick in the ass from FittyTu to find his way in the pros. You can never underestimate the value of postive influences. The dude is an amazing athlete you have to say, he looks extremely coordinated for his size in comparison. He could be very fun to watch under the right tutelage. If Claiborne is gone, Im good with help anywhere on that front 7.

I'm still waiting for Garay to get signed to firm up the middle.

Hardy is still developing. Applewhite and Whiteboy can also provide some help.

Johnson can generate sacks, but he needs better players beside him.

Small additions to the defense can make a significant impact next season.

foreal. sign Applewhite and GARAY already!!!!!!!!

    • Dang, we might not be able to create the same magic from last year!
    • If we were a solid winning organization most of us would have no problems with this selection. We would have had a capable starter in place to allow him to be eased into the rotation. If were told prior to the draft that he had been completely cleared health wise, we "probably" wouldn't have a ton of reservations about this selection. If we had picked this young man on Day 3 of the draft most of us would have no problems with this selection because we wouldn't have had to use draft capital to move up and get him. Unfortunately, none of the above were true 1)  We were a terrible team in 2023 and needed an immediate impact player. 2)  He was hurt near the the end of the 2023 NCAA season. We traded up to get him even though we knew he wasn't medically cleared to play in 2024. 3) When training camp started we were hearing stories that the knee wasn't ready. That alone should have raised some red flags. I personally would have red-shirted him in 2024 in order to have him ready for 2025. We had Chubba as our lead back and other guys to fill the #2 and #3 spots on the depth chart. There was no need to rush Brooks unto the field in 2024. Here's our draft history in the 2nd round between 2021 and 2024 2021 TMJ 2022 No draft choice. We picked Matt Corall in round 3 (#94) as our only Day 2 pick. 2023 Jonathan Mingo 2024 Jonathon Brooks. We have taken 4 skill players on Day 2 of the draft for the past 4 years who have contributed absolutely nothing to the offensive side of the football. 3 are no longer on the team. Two of them are no longer in the NFL. One  could possibly never start a game due to a knee injury. This type of poor drafting is why this team has been so bad for the entire decade.
    • Even limited as he was I still don't think they have replaced his production, and not just the sack stats. The games Clowney missed it was very obvious what his value still was. Risky move but whatever. They only had 32 sacks last year and if that drops then it's going to get ugly. I see the improvement in run stopping but not in pass protect in any way.
