Peppers always got criticized for his play and walked for nothing and people were pissed at Hurney, Stewart has been great for us and could play out his contract and walk and it wouldnt be a big deal????..................I have my criticisms of Hurney too, but even i gotta admit he cant win with some people in this fan base.

For me the criticism is in letting this situation arise. First, I didn't think it was necessary to draft Stewart in the first place. I love him as a player but that was a shock to me. Then you pay the living poo out of your older guy when you drafted this other younger stud who's just as good or better for what you need want him to do. He created this situation that he now has to deal with. I have no faith in him not to fug it up.

Well obviously we'll listen to trade offers. Though we will most certainly not get what most people on this board want for him. We would be damn lucky to get a 3rd rounder for him.

Stewart has to do what's best for himself even if that means leaving the team, none of you would do any different if you had one shot to make the biggest contract of your career.

I believe we will offer him a good contract. Williams should restructure and i'm inclined to believe he would be willing to.

Why would Williams restructure a contract he just signed? He is a RB.....and an aging one. Means less money he will see. Do you want to take a paycut cut so your company can pay someone else......and you feel you could do his job if it came down to it as well?

Stewart and Williams can be friends regardless of where they play. This is business. Williams ain't Wharton. He has leverage to refuse a pay cut....Carolina can't cut him.

Meh we can argue about what one or the other will do but neither of us know them personally. Williams will not finish out that contract and he knows it, he'll be what 34 or 35 by that point..

You mean a 2nd and a 3rd.

We will NOT get two picks that high for him. I doubt we'd get two at all.

Of course Williams won't finish out that contract most likely.....he also has no reason to restructure and set himself up to get less money.

It is a business. Stewart and Williams both want to get paid. Reasonable to assume they care more about that than keeping double trouble thing going....they aren't WRs or QBs that can expect to hit multiple big contracts in a career

Hurney would definitely lose majority of the fanbase if Stewart has a Pro-Bowl season and walks next year

Scary part is I can definitely see that happening

If everyone is healthy, it will be tough for him to put up the numbers though. Everybody has to get there touches....

DE is more valuable than a RB.

We have Cam, a top tier RB in Wlliams and a guy who fits the scheme in Tolbert. Double Trouble has always been a luxury. Peppers was our DL.

If Williams is top tier why can't he get the most snaps at RB on his own team?

"Double Trouble has always been a luxury, so lets get rid of the better running back."

D.Will got a 5 year contract. He is 28 years old, with 4 years left.

Brandon Marshall was traded for 2 2nd round picks and then again for 2 3rd round picks.

....I dont want to trade Stewart anyway, I'd much rather they sign a long term deal.

Stewart is better in the scheme. Doesn't mean Williams isn't currently a top tier RB.

I would choose Stewart over Williams but it ain't that simple. We invested in Williams last year....FO picked the back. Going into the season they didn't know who would thrive more.

More things factor in that just a side by side comparison of the 2 RBs.

Stew's a proven asset to this team. I like the idea of running Tolbert as a fb. I hope the coaches are looking for formations that will confuse defenses.Three premier backs and Cam lined up together. Smith and Gettis on the wings. Good luck to the rest of the Nfl. They wish we'd trade Stew. Somebody make sure the guy who started this thread ain't from another team.

I stand corrected on his age then, i've heard different numbers thrown out here. Regardless even being 32, i assume we both know the average career span on an RB these days.

As for the trades of Brandon Marshall, i suppose it depends how desperate a team is. Though pro bowl WR's don't exactly grow on trees, RB's however are a dime a dozen so i don't know about that comparison.
