1. Jordan- worth the price? Thats debatable. I dont fault Hurney for doing this at all, but its pricey.

2. OK you tag Peppers-smart move. You cant give him away for nothing.

Ok next move-get him traded dumb ass!!

He needs to sign his tender...bla bla bla.

New England , Philly, Cleveland all have a gazillion picks...tell him to sign that paper! His franchise tag crippled us since the moment he signed it, its the FO job to get him out of here.

3. Our prayers have been answered a franchise QB up for sale. Oh wait, we dont need Cutler -have the 45 million dollar wonder boy Jake the fake.

4.We give Jake a five-year, $42 million contract extension.

The deal includes $20 million in guaranteed money :banghead:

20 million dollar reward for losing a home playoff game?! WHY DID WE HAVE TO PAY HIM SO MUCH? Hes not a player are teams are waiting for, nevermind more than half our fans dont want him here in the first place!!!

Big fuggin whoop this opens up salary cap (about $5 million). We could have gave him 5 million in guaranteed...saving another 15 million.

5.Ok so we are all waiting for a huge move from the silent off-seasoned Hurney. Several teams traded up , as did the Panthers. So there we are watching as Denver picked, New England picked...no Peppers news!!! The browns traded 4 fuggin times. Oh wait....trade CAROLINA PANTHERS!!!

Who is it going to be- Everette Brown:confused:??!!We moved up tp get someone we could have got at 59 or later?? :banghead: Oh wait it gets better!!! We give away a first rd pick??:beatdeadhorse5: (why dont we have a symbol of a man beating a Panther with a bat?) To thow salt on the wound Pat White was still there just a few pick prior!!!:dupe::banghead: If your going to move up and give away a first at least get the best person available!!

Make all the damn excuses in the world , this off-season has been a complete train wreck. How did we improve this off-season?? How did we improve??!!:beatdeadhorse5: Bucs got better, Falcons got a hell of a lot better, Saints (honestly did pay attention but I sure better then us) we are the same. Ok we got Otah last year...great move. Again, how have we improved for this upcoming year?

Maybe the only explanation to this madness is that we will have a no fuggin money left next year to pay for a 1st rd pick.

Thanks 4 nothing Hurney.

No, it's not debatable. He was voted the best LT in the NFC by the players and coaches (he was not at the top of fan voting for the pro bowl, so it was the coaches and players that voted him in), and the best LT in the NFL by the media that actually covers the NFL and sees a lot more of other team's Tackles than fans do. So, the fact is that he is respected as one of, if not the, top LT's in the league, and was paid as such.

And how exactly would you recommend they make him sign the tender? The team has absolutely no control over when and if Peppers signs the tender. The FO can only work with what the rules allow them to, and since they cannot force him to do anything, they had to rely on peppers to decide it was in his best interest to sign...but he decided it didn't matter, so didn't sign.

3. Our prayers have been answered a franchise QB up for sale. Oh wait, we dont need Cutler -have the 45 million dollar wonder boy Jake the fake.

Great, except for one thing, we didn't have enough fire power to even come close to getting him. We didn't have a 1st this year, and even our second was a late 2nd. Add in the fact that we were not allowed to even talk about trading peppers, much less actually trade him, and you have a situation where is was unrealistic for anyone to seriously think we had anything worth trading for Cutler...particularly considering what Chicago gave up for him.

I'm not sure if you've realized, but the guarantee includes what he would have made this year, so it wasn't $20 million of new guaranteed money. Therefore, we couldn't have just given him a $5 million guarantee since he was scheduled to make more than that already. What it boils down to is that he will be paid as a starter for a year or two, supposedly while we either develop or find his replacement, then as a backup (this is the guaranteed part of his salary). But if he ends up starting beyond a year or two, then his salary would go up to pay him as a starter (this is the non-guaranteed, or incentive part). You can't just look at raw numbers, usually it is much more complicated than that.

If nothing else, this shows that you have not done any research on the draft. Your statement about Brown is, for lack of a better word, ignorant.

we didn't have cap room to make a splash in the FA market because we payed to keep gross and peppers. we didn't have a 1st round pick because we exchanged it for otah last year.

we have reasons for our lackluster offseason, which is a good thing. only problem is peppers not wanting to play for us.

draft picks will only truly be reviewed fairly in the future

Na Guns - Props to actually being realistic about things and not being like "WELL MAN WE ARE THE PANTHERS, ANYTHING WE DO IS JUSTIFIED AND IS THE RIGHT METHOD OF HANDLING THINGS MAN!!!!"...

People are bashing Freeman and as you just said about Jake and taking time to develop the future. The Bucs are already doing that and got a guy that the whole staff felt comfortable in developing. Nice to see a realistic perspective, the Panthers definatley could have even thrown in a 3rd this year with their second and probablly got Brown anyway. They way overpaid on him.

I have to agree Woodie, his statement about Brown makes the rest of his post null and void. Stupid comment, when talking about a guy was considered a top 10 pick at one point and was graded by every scout or draft site as a top 15 talent. We got him with the 43rd pick and are paying a top 10 draft talent player 2nd round money. We basically gave up a first next year for a top ten pick this year plus a fourth.

Many around the league have questioned the same thing. Like I said I did not oppose this, but dont act like I am the first to say it.

Hmm..I dont know maybe trade him to one of the four teams he wanted?

NE was one of them...they had a ton of picks. Fact is, how am I supposed to know..how are any of supposed to know? Hurney wont say a fuggin thing about it! Its there job to get this done !! Not getting it done landed us with a low impact 1st day draft and no free angency. I really thought we were going to get more picks

Peppers, Delhomme, Next years 1st whatever it took. Lets not pretend we would try if we had the firepower anyway

What planet are you living on? Every sports commentator said that we paid him too much money. Nevermind the fact that everyone else thinks we need to be grooming a replacement. Pat White would have been a nice pick to move up for.

If nothing else, this shows that you have not done any research on the draft. Your statement about Brown is, for lack of a better word, ignorant.

I will admit when I am wrong, I did not think he was a projected 1st rounder. The commentators along with a lot of people where shocked at this...and not in a huge impact way. Still, worth a 1st rd pick next year? The guy is a great raw athlete, that will need to work. But, I still think they could have gotten a higher pick for a 1st and 4th (or whatver the 2nd pick was)

Enjoy the baseless vent?[/quote

yes we were a 12-5 team with Atlanta right behind us. Atlanta will be a lot better this year, will we?

Nu Guns the only reason he dropped was his size, he's only 6-1 1/2 in cleats. Other then that he's a top 10 - 15 talent and was definitely worth of the pick and the trade. If him and Peppers both play, we've got incredible speed on the outside with both players capable of running 4-6's. Just need to shore up the DT spot and the line Rotation should be good. Gives us 4 DE who have speed and run in the 4.5 - 4.7 range, that we can just rotate in and keep fresh.

Like who?

Just throwing out the "it's been said around the league" line doesn't give you any credibility. In fact, it takes away from it when you can't back it up, and you can't.

Hmm..I dont know maybe trade him to one of the four teams he wanted?

Good grief. Why am I even responding here? You have no idea... :nonod:

He hasn't signed his tender, thus they can do nothing. Is this really such a hard concept to understand?

His agent could go out and get an offer and bring it to the Panthers. He hasn't.

Peppers, Delhomme, Next years 1st whatever it took. Lets not pretend we would try if we had the firepower anyway

Even if they'd had the ability they certainly weren't going to give up the kind of deal the Bears did. I'd have been screaming if they had.

They didn't want him. Get over it.

What planet are you living on? Every sports commentator said that we paid him too much money. Nevermind the fact that everyone else thinks we need to be grooming a replacement. Pat White would have been a nice pick to move up for.

Again, show it. Just saying "everybody is saying it" doesn't make you sound smart. It makes you sound goofy when you can't back it up.

I can give you links from guys who actually cover the Panthers (Gantt, Chandler, Yasinskas) who supported the deal. Others have been able to post links and comments from national people who both supported it and hated it. Can you even post one, or is "every sports commentator" the best you've got?

I will admit when I am wrong, I did not think he was a projected 1st rounder. The commentators along with a lot of people where shocked at this...and not in a huge impact way. The only thing people were shocked by was that he dropped. And for the record, we didn't give up a 4th. We got a fourth back.

Sheesh :nonod:

    • Then don't tune in. It's really not a hard concept to understand, if your making your decision based on your own personal needs/feelings as opposed to what is best for the future of the franchise, then it's a you problem, not a Panthers problem. When the season is already lost, every fan should be rooting for the same thing.  The team plays hard until the final whistle of the season and keeps improving as a team and individually, but in the end, we still come up short and lose games, and preferably because the other team beat us, not because we screwed up and found a way to lose due to our own fault. Look at it this way... If we are up 1 or 2 points with 3 seconds left in the game and the other team is lining up for a FG.  Beyond the joy of victory or the disappointment of defeat, what impact does the other team making or missing the FG have on our team the following season? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Except where we draft and what teams we play due to our finish in the division. The players and coaches on the team would have the exact same level of improvement and learnings about themselves individually and as a team whether the FG is made or missed.  The ONLY difference in the end is the record in the standings and if the win or loss number changes. If you want to argue if making the playoffs to lose in the first round or just missing them is better or worse, that's totally fair and I can at least understand the other side of it.  But in what is already a lost season, if you're not hoping your team plays well but ends up losing, then you're cutting off your nose to spite your face.  You're hoping for a moment of happiness at the detriment of the franchise's future, and in turn, you're basically then happy for a moment to only set yourself up for future further disappointment.
    • If we’re eliminated I want the wins more.   The season is already a disappointment and if I’m not pulling for wins why bother to tune in?
    • Two things terribly wrong with this post. First is that not one time has myself or anyone else agreeing with me said that the team themselves should think that way or try and lose for positioning.  Never once have I suggested the team should purposefully lose games, ever.  I honestly can't understand why people keep saying this in posts, not one fan has ever said the players should or would purposefully try to lose. And second, is yes, that has happened and it's happened very recently.  The 2020 Bengals were 4-11-1 and then were playing in the SB the very next season.   And while it might have been 2 years later and they didn't quite get to the SB, the 2021 Lions were 3-13-1 and then the 2023 Lions were up 24-7 at halftime of the NFC Championship game. The season between those two? They finished 9-8 and only just missed the playoffs. Which is why I keep trying to compare us to the Lions in where we are at in our re-build.  Throw out Bryce's rookie year with the Reich staff who just didn't work out and he looked god awful.   This past season when we were 5-12 in Canales' 1st season is that 2021 season for the Lions and their 1st season under Campbell.  This year is their 2022 where they grew a ton and Campbell's culture building was clear, where I'm saying we'd likely be better off in the long run if we go 8-9 or 9-8 and just miss out on the playoffs (which is still a significant improvement from last year).  Then our 2026 is their 2024 when we have a chance to be a real contender after adding a few more pieces and our key players having another year of experience under their belts.
