Why did the Panthers give up a top 10 pick next year (est 6-10 / 7-9) to move up in the 2nd round for an undersized DE that probably won't even start on opening day?

Because they don't plan on having a top 10 pick next year. They basically did the same thing the Pats did except they used next years first.

well I have not yet predicted anything and I know you were not talking to me. Predictions right now are ridiculous anyway. sub .500 after a winning campaign is the trend though and I would be more apt to say sub .500 right now than not considering the schedule and this horrendous off season. The run game was our best shot at equalizing and we have done nothing but bleed backup lineman since Jake poo the bed against Arizona.

The people holding the reigns of this team deserve credit for sesons past, but deserve every bit of criticism on its way for this one.

I see losing season and several know-it-alls at the top being ridden out on a rail by seson's end.

It hurts to say that and I don't have a crystal ball, but inspite of a fantastic season last year I don't see very many positive things going on.

One thing I really like about Brown, in addition to his obvious talent and ability, is that he is a high character guy who genuinely wants to play here.

I'm really excited about the pick and hope he can make an immediate contribution.

They traded a unknown 1st round pick for a low second and low fourth. It is almost like a high first and high third. If we go 6-10 next year then it sucks. If we go 10-6 then it is fine.
